I hate to give The Ivey’s a bad review because I stayed here on another occasion and loved it. Unfortunately, they earned this downgrade. The service during our one night staycation was absolutely abysmal. To begin, we asked the front desk if the alcohol could be removed from our mini bar and wet bar. I think her exact words were, “I’ll have to see if that’s something we can do.” I informed her it was imperative. The following run around of calls down to the front desk, transfers to in-room dining, being ignored, and more calls (we were being very patient) was kind of ridiculous. When two people finally showed up to remove the alcohol, they were very very kind. Later after dinner when we returned to our room, we tried calling the front desk SEVERAL times to be transferred so that we could order a few bottles of water. Despite having seen the employee sitting at the desk only minutes earlier, she never answered and we never received water. The next morning, we asked for a late check out, and were given a short “that can’t be accommodated today” with no explanation. Mind you the hotel seemed rather sparsely filled (we had seen one other guest the entire stay.) I don’t think I have ever been turned down a late check out in a 4+ star hotel. The $30 “cappuccinos” we ordered to the room were watery lattes at best. Finally, at 11:02 as we were literally approaching our door to leave our room, the doorbell rang. It was a lady with a clipboard essentially hurrying us out. She proceeded down the hall to do the same to another room. We have stayed in MANY four and five star accommodations around the country and world and have NEVER. Not even in a bustling Hampton Inn, been “kicked out” of a room at check-out. We asked another employee upon exiting if they had a lot of arrivals that day, and they were like, “meh… not really”. This hotel needs a refresher course on what hospitality means. These prices do not reflect our experience. The elevator was also out of service. And according to previous reviews, it had been out of service for months. The rooms however, are stunning.

Unbelievable hotel. Staff were absolutely amazing and super helpful. Sophie's Lounge served amazing food. If we ever back in Charlotte, we will be back. Thank you so much!

Short stay for only two nights, but my wife absolutely loved this hotel. In short, it’s the girliest hotel I’ve ever stayed at and I mean that in a good way. Decor and style at every step. The rooms were well appointed and the bed was comfortable. Their restaurant/bar ha d strong speakeasy vibe. Lastly, it’s in the middle of everything. My wife wants to take her girlfriends back. Highly recommended.

Cons: 1. Elevator was not working 2. Incorrect or misleading explanation of charges and credit balances(credit card benefit) 3. Room facing downtown nightclub with loud noise all night 4. Combining some charges for 2 separate bookings while requiring a re-check-in 5. Tv was low resolution and did not have airplay. Only HDMI connectivity 6. Breakfast on the 2nd morning was extremely limited selection due to them “not having a chef” that morning (This was Sunday) Pros: 1. Polite staff willing to help 2. Rooms themselves were great 3. Hotel location is good, downtown Charlotte is great and close to most things 4. Cocktail lounge is great 5. Library is a unique benefit 6. Valet parking had EV charging included I will update the review if we are able to work with the hotel on the charges and credits portion.
