Gateway Hotel

Upon first appearance this does not look like a place that you would want to stay, the front desk associates were very nice, the room that we stayed in wasn't a bad room at all, you can tell that some aspects have been updated. The exterior definitely needs some improvements to it as it is very dated, the stairs leading up to the higher levels had rust holes in them. We never received room service the entire week we were there, my boyfriend and I slept in 2 separate beds because the room we were offered only had full size beds, he moved the furniture around and pushed the 2 beds together, underneath the beds and the other furniture were in desperate need of a good cleaning as the floor was absolutely disgusting. We never saw any bugs though so that was a plus!! The location wasn't terrible, we were close enough to DC to do what we wanted but didn't have to deal with DC traffic to get there! We did take advantage of Uber though and that was super nice! So if you are looking for a cheap stay where you will be left alone then this is the spot for you! I did also like the fact that the parking lot was gated overnight.

Could use a sparkle and shine clean up starting with the check in. I didn't stay because they don't accept pets. They were kind enough to refund me because of that. Good price.

Its an awful awful place. Curtains had molds, people smoking Marijuana in the parking lot, the rooms were hideous. We stayed for a night and the next morning, we had to rush and find another place to stay because we woke up to people shouting in the next room. Stay away from this place!

Absolutely deplorable. Horrible service, horrible area, disgusting room. I do not recommend.

Oh my. I’m shocked at the amount of GOOD reviews this place has. This place is definitely not a hotel…it is absolutely a motel, which is fine, but don’t call it a hotel when that’s not what it is. This is obvious the very moment you see the building. The woman working at the main desk is so rude. Just very obviously couldn’t care less about you or your experience there. She couldn’t even be bothered to give us a “do not disturb” sign for the door handle. It’s also required that you make a $100 deposit for “incidentals,” so have that ready for when you get there, and parking is $10 every day you stay there. The room wasn’t exactly clean and feels really uncomfortable the moment you walk in. It definitely smelled funky. We also weren’t told anything about available WiFi, so, we had to use our LTE the whole time. The walls are also very thin…you can hear your neighbors and the cleaning crew with their rolling cart. Overall, such a bad experience.

Terrible management and very rude and disrespectful. Would never in my life come back to this janky motel. The Gm was so rude because I was trying to rebook my reservation but I had a hard time to do so and my phone had died on me, plus I’m not from the DC area. He treated me like crap and started yelling and cussing at me even threatening with the police for no reason. I would advise anyone not to come here because it’s cheap but find another better hotel even if it’s more just to get your moneys work especially with more respectful staff. Also they have no breakfast so find something that also have that amenity as well.

I didn’t expect a super nice hotel, however for the price , it was good enough, good location close to public transit and staff really nice… my room was clean and TV channels were nice… Great Value, not too far from Downtown Washington..

this place is so weird. i guess it’s worth it for the price but my spouse and i needed to check in early around 5AM, i had called the hotel three different times days prior to our visit ( spoke to all different people) and told them our situation and they said it was fine and the early check in fee was $25. however, when we arrived to the hotel the workers were asleep and after they woke up they charged us $50 and claimed “the prices raised” (even though on their terms printed out in front said it was $25 as well) we also had to get a replacement key because ours decided to stop working which has never happened to me before. the rooms were dirty, there were stains on the headboard, walls, and hairdryer. however the hotel is located next to convenience stores and restaurants and only a 10 minute drive to the heart of dc. this hotel is exactly what you pay for.
