Book directly for best room selection, we were lucky booking via hotels.com and were given a too floor room which was larger and quieter. It's a quirky place in all the right ways! Appreciated the attention to detail in cleaning, room well maintained, had a skylight, desk, sitting chair, and books. The location is across from Harvard and easy walking distance to Harvard Square with restaurants and shops. Parking is a bit tight, so rent a smaller vehicle or brace yourself for no street parking and a quarter mile walk to nearest garage. For some, the lack of elevator could be an issue in a four story building, so do your homework and read the details provided and call them directly. There is a cozy living room with games, books, and magazines to hang out in, two front porches with seating and nice garden flowers to view. Breakfast is downstairs in the basement, there are several egg dishes (home made egg bites), spanakopita, great oatmeal, yogurt, fresh berries, fruit, breads, pastries, hard boiled eggs, cereal, coffee, tea, and juices. In the evening when we came back, there was tea, hot coffee, and fresh baked cookies available, a nice touch! You can tell the family who has owned the property since the 1990's takes great care of a unique building from the 1890's. Out of the three place we stayed in a New England whirlwind trip, this was our favorite.
Room size is very small, not worth the price. Very close to Harvard Square though.
More like a boarding house/youth hostel than a hotel or B&B. Rooms are bare bones and a bit shabby. Lobby and front full of little paper signs, which give it a student dorm feel. Comfortable, but could use a refresh. Service was non existent after front desk check in. And why not provide conditioner along with shampoo? Easy walk to campus.
The staff were genuinely friendly and made everything feel easy from the start. Breakfast was really good, and the hotel’s on a quiet street so you can actually rest without outside noise. Prices are very fair for what you get, and I’d happily stay here again.
