I filed a complaint for something and it took them months to even schedule a phone call then on the day I was supposed to have the phone call the lady called me saying that she was sick and needed to reschedule to the next day then she hung up the phone before I could even say anything else they are rude in the emails when you're trying to respond to them asking you to schedule and they are rude on the phone as well when it's time to do the phone interview by the time they interviewed me my interest in moving forward with this complaint app severely waned and I just feel so defeated from the whole process of trying to report discrimination. They took forever just to send an email to give me a list of times then they didn't respond until days later for several times saying that the time and date I had picked that been taken maybe the date and time would not have been taken if they had responded to the emails promptly it's a complete joke I don't think the city wants to do anything about preventing discrimination. We go through all of this filling out the forms trying to do the right thing trying to come to the right agency to help us but they treat us like a joke and I bet you if I am going to do the phone call they're just going to find some way to get out of it to try to say there's nothing that they can do I think these offices should be dismantled if they're not going to hire people who actually can help us it's all just a sham and a joke and they're taking grants and money that could be used insteadtowards active programs and are actually making a difference

I had a great intake experience here. The intake specialist at the front office was kind, patient, and knowledgeable. Despite my nearly incoherent delivery the person was able to help me set my emotions to the side without dismissing them in order to address the reasons I came in. I was pointed in all of the right directions and given resources I had not yet thought of. Offices like these are so necessary in times like these. For my own part there are certain things that cannot be left unaddressed. In my world one line being glaringly crossed is a current situation where I've been systematically targeted with harassment, discrimination, blatant theft, bullying, and other illegal acts of retaliation and institutionalized harm by an organization many would consider an unlikely offender as its ability to remain in existence is based solely on the grace of it's well meaning donors coupled with the abundance of its ability to apply for and recieve millions in public dollars aimed to combat the myriad impacts of injustices specific to poverty and racism. It has been extremely alarming for me to experience so much difficulty in finding much less obtaining anything akin to accountability regarding this organization as a result of what seems to be a 'hands off because it's a fellow nonprofit' stance that way too many local oversight entities have taken when I've gone to them with details surrounding my own situation and that of far too many others I know who are currently or have previously had very similar dealings with this nonprofit. Without city funded operations like the Office for Civil Rights, we would be stuck relying solely on these other entities who, in my recent interaction gg are either too overwhelmed, already at capacity, or who refuse to assist in addressing any portion of matters brought to them despite any degree of verifyable information outlining the hostile, illegal and/or egregious nature of numerous actions and behavior attributed to this "anti poverty" nonprofit. range from flies in the face of the offending organizations publicly interfacing narratives indicating leading authority in the fight to undo the part of the so vitriolically am emotionally and physically exhausted from my recent and ongoing experience of being targeted by an organization that collects grants and donations to play a leadership role in solving poverty,

Review: The Civil Rights Commission Is Causing Harm — Not Healing As A Transracial Adopted person And African American woman, I know exactly what racism looks like. I’ve lived it. I’ve felt it. And I’ve reported it—four times in my life. But each time, my experience was met not with support or justice, but with dismissal and denial, almost always from white investigators who made it clear: they did not believe me, and worse, they did not care. Recently, my family endured extensive harm due to clear discrimination. We brought our evidence forward. Initially, we were told a case would be filed. We had hope. Then, without warning, a new investigator was assigned—one who called me up and, in a rude and dismissive tone, asked, “What’s the problem? Do you even have evidence?” I knew immediately: he had no intention of helping us. And I was right. The case was abruptly shut down. No explanation. No accountability. No justice. This is what it’s like to be a person of color seeking help from Civil Rights Commissions. These institutions, supposedly built to protect us, are instead perpetuating harm—by silencing our complaints, invalidating our lived experiences, and telling us—often to our faces—that the racism we experience simply didn’t happen. How is it that people who don’t even look like us—who don’t live our realities—are the ones deciding what qualifies as racism? These offices need urgent, systemic reform. They need: • Racial bias and white supremacy training • Real diversity in staffing and leadership • Accountability for harmful dismissals of legitimate complaints • To stop retraumatizing people who are already hurting If you’re funding or donating to these institutions thinking they’re helping marginalized communities—please reconsider. They are not fulfilling that promise. If anything, they are retraumatizing us. It’s time to demand real change. Civil Rights Commissions should not be places that invalidate and erase the pain of Black and Brown people. They should be safe havens for justice—not roadblocks to it. This is my lived experiences with this local Civil Rights Commission.

Apparently, reading emails is hard. I've readily responded to the inquiries in their emails but days later, I've received another email from OCR_Intake days later stating that I never responded. Total bologna. Pursue other avenues in seeking justice while communicating with this office because Seattle for Civil Rights are bad at their jobs.
