Progress Hotel

Complete satisfaction.

A fair option in Place Rogier, nothing fancy but fine for a night or two, specially if you are travelling for work. Room was comfortable and well equiped. The location is perfect in terms of connection to train and metro, and also walking distance to the city center's main attractions.

The staff never bothered to inform us via any platform or email that the hotel had changed its name due to a takeover by another group. We were surprised not to find the hotel name displayed on the street until we had to ask the staff about the new name. The so-called 4-star hotel room was gloomy and outdated. The vanity kit was not replenished, which is basic courtesy when housekeepers notice it has been used (or perhaps the housekeepers just didn’t notice). Additionally, on one occasion, they threw my newly bought doll on the floor, which shows a lack of respect for the guest's belongings. If you're looking for a better experience, I would recommend going elsewhere.

The hotel's strengths: excellent location, close to the metro, tram, and a shopping center. Very welcoming staff, good-sized room. The weaknesses: The hotel is a bit dated, but clean. A little improvement to the mattresses would make it perfect. Ours was a bit too soft, like a bowl.

The minibar option and two 50cl bottles for almost 3 days is a bit tight (the bathroom water is drinkable, we were told), but it's empty, and the carpets could use a good shampoo, but the rooms are clean. The bathroom is a good size, the bed very comfortable. We didn't try room service, but the breakfast selection is good, with a well-stocked buffet where everyone will find something they like. It's a shame there's no restaurant, which would be a real plus, and the bar area lacks a selection of beers... only Stella, not great for a Michelin-starred hotel! Well-located hotel with a friendly welcome. This hotel offers many possibilities, but 3 stars would be more justified.
