B&B Choco

We planned a trip to Brussels from March 12th to 15th. We booked a room at B&B Chambre Chocolat and paid for the accommodation, accepting their cancellation policy: no refund if you cancel 14 days before the trip. On March 10th, when we checked in for our flight, we were shocked to discover that there was a general strike scheduled for March 12th and the flight was canceled. We couldn't fly to Brussels. We contacted Booking.com because we had booked the flights through their website, and they told us there was nothing they could do, that they were canceling the flights and would issue a refund in 10 days. With this information, we spoke to the owner of the house, and she told us that she wasn't going to lose the booking money because she couldn't rent the room again. We asked her to let us use the reservation for other dates, but she refused. What happens to my money? Can't she lose it, but I can? I didn't cancel the booking on purpose, but because of a strike that wasn't my fault. She can't rent it out with such short notice, and I can't enjoy the reservation because I can't travel. I found her unsympathetic, selfish, and a bit shameless. We've filed a complaint with the European Consumer Protection Board. I'll probably lose my money, but I want you to know that if you have any problems with this accommodation, don't expect a solution; it's your money, after all. They've lost customers too. We'll return to Belgium with more time in the summer, and we certainly won't be renting this place, nor will we recommend it anywhere. I found this behavior, this refusal to reach any agreement, appalling. They have a public establishment; they should learn some social skills. Thanks for nothing.

The room was spacious, clean, and tastefully furnished. The owner was very kind, and the breakfast was good. The subway is a 5-minute ride to the city center. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful time, everything was tastefully decorated, Madame Claire is a welcoming and kind person and the chocolat room is very comfortable, relaxing and above all clean.

I was really impressed by everything including the very friendly landlady.

Outstanding in all points. From the welcome when you enter the house. You will be hosted with a friendly style you could only find at rare places. The room: I like it! It has a specific individual style. That combination makes it unique. Breakfast: There specialities from the region in a nice way. Honey, handmade marmelades( Green Plum Marmelade with a special background in history) ...at all: No wishes are left open. Much more to say. From my view: Thank you!
