About this place Hotel Seamen's Home

Hotel Seamen's Home (Sømandshjemmet) is a plain, well-kept hotel on Marinevej by the old harbour in Nuuk. It has its own restaurant, which is one of the cheaper places in town for a hot meal. Alcohol has traditionally not been served at the Seamen's Home hotels in Greenland, so check if that matters to you. It is a mainstream hotel listed as gay-friendly, not a gay venue. Google rates it 4.4 from about 230 reviews. Nuuk is small and walkable, and Greenland follows Danish law on same-sex marriage.

It's a single room with a shared bathroom and toilet, but it's reasonably priced. Plus, the buffet-style breakfast is very satisfying.

It's more like a guesthouse than a hotel, but the rooms smell nice and were comfortable. The staff are very friendly and smile at guests. The location is super close, about a three-minute walk from the meeting point for water taxis and Raw Arctic travel agencies. Some rooms have harbor views. There's a spa, but I'm not sure if it's free! Airport shuttle service, however, is available for a fee, the same price as the bus. The hotel has its own restaurant, and the food is delicious!!! They have many local specialties, so it's great that you won't die even if you're stranded in bad weather. However, the menu has separate lunch and dinner options, so be careful. I highly recommend the musk beef dishes (all the items in the pictures have meat). Breakfast is simple but includes sweet watermelon, which is delicious (I'm not sure if they'll change it).

Great hotel with a good breakfast. You can also have a good dinner there. It is only a short walk to the center.
