You won't find a gay hotel in Arona in 2026. Playaflor Chill-Out Resort, which used to market itself as gay, is now permanently closed on Google. Instead, the south of Tenerife has a plethora of mainstream hotels, several of which are adults-only, within walking distance of the small gay scene around C.C. Verónicas in Playa de las Américas. None of these hotels specifically cater to LGBTQ+ guests, but same-sex couples are common at all of them - Spanish law has protected them since same-sex marriage was introduced in 2005.
Choosing where to stay
Playa de las Américas is divided by the Barranco del Rey: the eastern side, around Verónicas, is in Arona, and the western side (San Eugenio, Torviscas, Fañabé) is in Adeje. If you want to walk to EXITO, Q&K, and Sauna Stonewall, stay somewhere between Playa del Camisón and San Eugenio. It's about a 25-minute walk south along the promenade to Los Cristianos, which is calmer and has a ferry to La Gomera. Chayofa, inland, is for those who want quiet and views - but you'll need a car or taxi to get there.
Near the gay venues (Playa de las Américas)
Vanilla Garden Boutique Hotel is a small, adults-only hotel with a garden pool on Avenida Arquitecto Gómez Cuesta, about 10 minutes' walk from Verónicas. It has a Google rating of 4.5.
H10 Gran Tinerfe is a large, adults-only seafront resort on Avenida Rafael Puig Lluvina, just over the line in Adeje, and a few minutes from Q&K and the sauna. Its Google rating is 4.6.
Gran Oasis Resort is a large apartment complex with pools on Calle Meandro, between Verónicas and Los Cristianos. It's got a Google rating of 4.5.
Hovima Santa María is a mainstream package hotel on Avenida de España on the Adeje side, with a Google rating of 4.4.
Los Cristianos and the seafront
Spring Arona Gran Hotel & Spa is an adults-only seafront hotel with a spa on Avenida Juan Carlos I, between Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas. Its Google rating is 4.6.
Sol Arona Tenerife is a big Meliá hotel on the Los Cristianos seafront near the ferry port, with a Google rating of 3.8 - reviews praise the location more than the rooms.
Checkin Atlántida Bungalows is a self-catering bungalow complex on Avenida Londres in Los Cristianos, with a Google rating of 3.7.
Quieter options
Hotel Estefanía Boutique Suites is a small, adults-only hotel in Chayofa, about 10 minutes' drive inland, with a Google rating of 4.6.
Hotel Colón Guanahaní is an adults-only resort behind Playa de Fañabé in Adeje, about 2.5 km north of Verónicas, with a Google rating of 4.7.
Closed or changed
Playaflor Chill-Out Resort (Avenida Rafael Puig 3), once described as a gay resort, is now marked permanently closed on Google, and its official website is no longer available. Third-party booking pages might still show it, but it's best to avoid booking until it's confirmed open.
Practical tips
- Winter (November to March) is high season in the Canaries, so book early for that period.
- Tenerife South airport (TFS) is about 18 km from Los Cristianos - roughly a 20-minute taxi ride.
