Beware in Burlington We recently visited Burlington for what we hoped would be a charming early fall getaway. After years of staying at reliable chain hotels, we decided to try this local bed and breakfast for a more authentic experience. What a costly mistake. The website's promises of "19th century charm" and sumptuous breakfast service are grossly misleading. At these room rates, guests should expect at least the basic service standards of a modest hotel. Instead, we found furniture so dated and worn it belonged in a thrift store, not a hospitality establishment. The location on Main Street near two colleges proved problematic, with constant traffic noise and late- night fraternity activity making sleep nearly For the premium prices charged, this B&B fails to deliver even basic hospitality standards. Save your money and stick with the reliable chain hotels - you'll get better value, service, and a good night's sleep. Rating: 2/5 stars

Disappointing Stay - Website Promises Not Delivered 1/5 Stars After reading the Lang House's website description promising "gracious and welcoming" staff and "21st century service," I was excited for our stay. Unfortunately, the reality fell far short of these claims. Staff & Service Issues: Contrary to the "gracious and welcoming" promise, we were never greeted or acknowledged by the host during our entire stay. On the rare occasions someone was at the front desk, they avoided eye contact and showed no interest in engaging with guests. The pre-arrival email directed us to ask our server for anything we needed, but with only one waitress and one cook who were clearly overwhelmed, it felt inappropriate to burden them with housekeeping requests like clean towels or trash removal. There was simply no housekeeping service provided. Room Conditions: The accommodations were neither "comfortable" nor reflective of "19th century charm." Our room felt more like a cave - dark walls, wooden blinds, and furniture that looked like Goodwill donations. Basic amenities were missing: no closets, no hangers, and insufficient space for toiletries in the bathroom. Despite running both the window air conditioner and fan continuously, the noise from Main Street traffic (due to proximity to two colleges) made sleep difficult. Breakfast Experience: The "sumptuous" breakfast was particularly disappointing. One morning featured approximately 2 teaspoons of yogurt with granola, and when I requested oatmeal, I was told they didn't have any. Another day brought a mini muffin so small it was almost comical. For truly good breakfast food, I'd recommend Henry's Diner instead. Overall: This stay lacked all the touches you'd expect from a proper B&B experience. While the location may work for those visiting UVM Medical Center, the overpriced rooms and absence of genuine hospitality make this place hard to recommend. The gap between their website promises and actual delivery was significant and disappointing.

Location is excellent, although located on Frat row at university, Noise is controlled. Rooms very nice, don't expect personal experience with owners, it is owned by a group of investors & run by a manager. People very nice. I can't say the breakfast was anything special, but adequate. Love that coffee, tea and water were always available.

Just a couple blocks uphill from downtown Burlington. Very quaint, nice grounds, and great service!

We stayed here for a week on vacation. Couldn't have loved our stay more. We stayed in the Tuttle room. Everything was clean and exactly as described. The breakfast served each morning was delicious. They even left "cookies of the day" outside the room every day! They are committed to being environmentally friendly with their toiletry options and water refills. My partner is a coffee connesiuer and he loved their coffee. The robes provided in the room were incredible as well. I can't say enough good things about this place. Also very convenient to the beach areas and all the shops / eateries downtown!

Wonderful stay! Very cool old house with beautiful rooms. Sheets and bed were clean, comfy and excellent! water was hot in the shower. The breakfast was delicious and expertly prepared. Coffee was hot, fresh and available. Easy to walk to Church St and the waterfront. We rode the causeway on rented bikes, highly recommend as the bike path is a rails to trails over Lake Champlain. Recommend Shelburne Farms for a day adventure. Don’t miss Mt. Philo! Thank you Mark and Lang House for a great stay!

Very cute inn! The Tuttle Room (1 Queen, 1 twin) was quaint and charming but still had necessary summer amenities like AC. Highlights of the stay included the very friendly and helpful staff and small, thoughtful details like a personalized welcome sign, cookies upon arrival, and attention to dietary restrictions. Great location for us - not in the heart of downtown but an easy walk to Church St and the waterfront. We only stayed one night on a roadtrip but really enjoyed our stay!

We loved our stay at The Lang House! We stayed in Carriage House and it was so cozy with all the amenities. The breakfast was outstanding every day! Absolutely delicious with great choices & willing to accommodate dietary restrictions. Location was perfect! Highly recommend this place!

Had an amazing experience at the Lang House. First, the staff was amazing and considerate. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, professional and extremely helpful. The room was great, very clean and great amenities. Breakfast was out of this world. Excellent location, short walk to everything in Burlington.

Cool romantic place for those who loves old times of 19th century. Very cosy.
