The venue itself has potential, and I was looking forward to a fun night, but my experience at the entrance completely ruined the vibe. I tried to do something nice by giving away a ticket I wasn’t going to use, and instead of handling the situation politely, the staff member at the entrance yelled at me in a way that felt totally uncalled for and unfair. I understand enforcing rules, but there’s no excuse for being rude to someone who’s clearly trying to be friendly and helpful. That is not the zakk vibe I was used to from other events. If you’re looking for a welcoming atmosphere, I’d recommend going somewhere else—because at this place, even kindness seems to be met with hostility.
The venue is actually pretty cool, with several floors and a large outdoor area, but the party itself is rather underwhelming. On the pop floor, you wonder if there are actually any DJs or if they're just playing a Spotify playlist, and on the techno floor, the apparent goal is to mask a lack of creativity with maximum volume. In winter, you regularly have to wait in line for over an hour at the coat check. I wonder how the party can still be so well-attended.
I can't understand all these negative reviews. The atmosphere was good, the music was fun, and the crowd was a great mix. I enjoyed it, and in my opinion, everyone who only gave it one star has never been to other gay parties that were really badly organized.
Calling this party a village disco would be an understatement. The music is from the last century. Everything is incredibly cramped. Dropping off or picking up your coat takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half. I've tried several times now, but it's just such a terrible party, and the only word that describes this place is CRINGE. People, go to Cologne and save yourselves the trouble in Düsseldorf. UPDATE: I come back a few years later and think, what the hell? We should be paid to come to this provincial garbage. This party just proves one thing: Move out of this boring city.
The party was way overcrowded. The organizer obviously didn't care... After all, the tickets were already paid for... Over two hours of waiting just to get rid of our coats. And all that pushing and shoving in the cramped stairwells... By the time you're sober, you're definitely not in the mood for anything else. Plus, the music was way too loud. Well, at that point, it wasn't such a big deal anymore. Unfortunately, a ruined evening that could have been spent much better. Conclusion: Shamelessly good partying, maybe again sometime. But not at Zakk...
