My only bug bear with this hotel is they keep the fire safety doors wedged open

Without a doubt the BEST FISH & CHIPS I ever had in my life!

Well...where to begin with this one!? Alex Polizzi would have a field day here. For a prime position, historic hotel this could be so much more of an experience than it was. It's almost like they just don't care. A deluxe room was booked and not convinced by a long shot that we got that. 1. The rear entrance was shabby, untidy, scruffy, unwelcoming and poorly lit with poor signage. 2. Paying to park in the hotel's own carpark - never come across that in my life! 3. Plenty of dust on lamps, curtains, kettle and ceiling fan (which we discovered when turned on). 4. No latch on toilet door so couldn't be closed properly. 5. No hot water in shower so had to have cold - one of taps broken and shower tray drainage poor. 6. Position of TV was on the wrong wall along with loose untidy cabling and poor access to sockets for phones etc.

Nice clean rooms except a massive spiders web behind the curtain with a spider living in a hole above the radiator. Excellent location plenty of parking and friendly staff Being on the front of the hotel could hear all the clubbers outside untill 2am. Would ask for a room at the back

Stayed at the Gordon house hotel for my first time . Went for pride weekend 16th Aug 2025 . On arrival meet the owner of the hotel , what a wonderful lady she is so accommodating, helpful and we had a lovely chat . Room was clean and bed was comfortable too . Located in the middle of the Rochester Town and great for all public transportation. All in all very pleasant stay at the hotel and the bonus is that the owners daughter owns a great bar just a few doors down , amazing for a great night out for entertainment and drinks selection was pretty good too. I will definitely be back again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fantastic room and location, all the windows work perfectly and stay open and stay closed no drafts, all the chairs and draws work fine nothing wobbles. The bathroom is beautiful and spacious with a shower that works better than my own ah home :) The lovely lady let us check out later as-well for a decent price. Highly recommend! Visited as part of a pub crawl down Rochester high street, on my visit there was a marquee out back with a sort of festival on, which I imagine was part of the May Day celebrations. Lots of interesting characters here and had some excellent conversations with fellow punters

Absolutely beautiful room! Couldn’t have asked for a better view of Rochester! The service was top notch. Thank you Jeff (or Geoff). Really lovely atmosphere. A beautiful hotel drowned in history with a lovely Singaporean twist! Couldn’t recommend more!

The ladies at the reception were very friendly and helpful. They were welcoming and eager to assist wherever they could. Another positive is the parking situation behind the hotel. The lanes have a good size and there was always something available during our three day stay. The charge is 10£ per day. After checking in we were confronted with a worn down and neglected room. Under budget one shouldn’t have high expectations concerning decor and atmosphere in general. Walking into this budget room everything seems to at first glance have ,an old charm’ to it but if one takes a closer look the defects became very apparent. The room is in desperate need of a renovation. The paint on the windows is chipped and in general dirty -(possibly mold?). Everything in the room is a combination of outdated and/or damaged (eg: missing veneer on cupboard, rusty metal basket in shower, messy paint jobs, flimsy signs). Outside of the room the hotel also isn’t very inviting. The pattern of fatigue and neglect can be found when walking in and out of the hotel. The back yard where the cars are parked is a dumping area as well as the hallway leading into the building. The room offers a kettle with coffee/tea and a TV. A hair dryer can be found mounted to the wall in the bathroom. It is however a joke rather than a proper device to dry one’s hair without spending a significant amount of time occupying the bathroom. The hotel offers very slow wifi. The location of the hotel is very central. This is probably the main justification the owners had for the higher price charged. There are many shops and restaurants as well as historical places right outside the door. But also many empty spaces. Several of the shops are estate agencies. Far too many for a shopping street. Many of the shops only open around 10 if at all. Some are closed on a Monday. For some places this info cannot be found online so one is forced to be figure this out on site. This was the main reason we booked having everything in close proximity. However we were disappointed with the above mentioned so this adds to the fact that we will not be returning to this hotel. This review is based on the fact that at the time of booking there were several other hotels in the surrounding area with better offers. We booked this hotel based on the fact that we would be staying central and comfortably. We were disappointed on both points.

The food served at the meal for The Rochester Pickwick Club was excellent. The service from the waiter was also very good, although he was rushed off his feet. What did not impress me was to be charged £14.70 for a small glass of Red Wine and a pint of Lager Shandy. This, was extortionate. I queried this charge with the barmaid, who confirmed the price. Needless to say, I made the drinks last all evening. Will I visit again? Probably not, but happy to discuss with hotel management via RPC
