Tallinn has three gay or queer bars we can confirm are open: X-Baar, HELLo! Bar and HUNGR. They are small, cheap by Nordic standards and a short walk or tram ride apart. There is no gay street and no big gay club, so pick your night by what's on rather than by address.
The three that count
X-Baar
Komandandi tee 2, just off Freedom Square on the edge of the Old Town. Visit Estonia calls it the oldest gay bar in Estonia. It has more than one dance floor and runs themed nights; during Tallinn Bearty in April 2026 it hosted the pop and retro parties. The crowd is mixed, men and women, locals and Finnish visitors. Google lists it open from 16:00 every day, until 01:00 Sunday to Thursday and 05:00 on Friday and Saturday. It fills after midnight at weekends. Older guides give its previous address, Tatari 1.

HELLo! Bar
Väike-Karja 1 (first floor), in the lower Old Town near Viru Gate. A small gay cocktail bar with a small dance floor. Vikervaade lists it as a simple gay bar; locals on Reddit call it fun and fairly touristy. Google: open 20:00–02:00 Sunday to Thursday, 21:00–04:00 Friday and Saturday, 4.4 stars from about 200 reviews. Hours change in the quiet months, so check @hellobartln on Instagram.
HUNGR
Peetri 6, in the Noblessner harbour area next to Kalamaja. A DIY queer bar, club and event space; its own site calls it "a local queer space open to everyone". Expect drag, DJ nights and community events, with a young, alternative crowd. It opens for events rather than on fixed hours, so check @feel_the_hungr before going. It's about 25 minutes on foot from the Old Town.

Gay-friendly options
Sessel Speakeasy, upstairs at Viru 3, is a salon-style cocktail bar with concerts and film nights. Travel Gay lists it, but we found no second source calling it gay, so it's a mainstream bar that works for a quiet first drink near HELLo! Bar. Visit Estonia's LGBTQ guide also names Heldeke! (theatre bar, burlesque and cabaret, Tööstuse 13), TOPS in Kalamaja and House 10 karaoke in the Old Town as queer-friendly. None of them is a gay bar.
Closed
- Sveta Baar, Telliskivi 62: closed for good on 1 January 2024 (ERR). It had been the city's main venue for drag and queer parties.
- Angel closed in 2010; G-Punkt and Ladies Pub are absent from every recent LGBT guide.
- Cards are taken almost everywhere. A beer costs well under Helsinki prices.
- Bars are quietest Monday to Wednesday; Pride week in late May or June is the busiest time of the year.
- For everything else, see the Gay Tallinn guide.
A typical night
Start at HELLo! Bar in the Old Town around 21:00, walk ten minutes to X-Baar after midnight on a Friday or Saturday, and finish at Club 69 on Sakala street, which stays open until 07:00 on Friday nights. If HUNGR has a party on, go there instead; it's the closest Tallinn gets to a queer club night.
