Sessel Speakeasy

Sessel is a gay-owned speakeasy hidden on the second floor of Viru 3, right on the Old Town's busiest pedestrian street. Push through the unmarked door and you find a plush salon-style cocktail bar filled with vintage armchairs - sessel is German for armchair - and a crowd that mixes queer locals, artists and curious travelers. It is not a gay bar in the dancefloor sense. The draw here is the programming: intimate concerts, film screenings, comedy and open-mic nights, and well-made cocktails served without Old Town tourist markup. The gay ownership keeps the room reliably welcoming, and it works beautifully as a first stop before X-Baar or HELLo! Bar, both a short walk away.
