Sauna gay en Buenos Aires (CABA): the honest 2026 picture
If you searched for sauna gay Buenos Aires, sauna gay CABA or saunas para hombres en Buenos Aires, here is the short version. The city has three men-only gay saunas that we can confirm are trading in late 2026: HomoSapiens in Almagro, Madison Club de Hombres a few blocks away on Avenida Medrano, and A Full on Viamonte in Balvanera, near Avenida Callao. Two more listings, Unikus in Recoleta and Haven Spa Masculino near Congreso, exist on the map but we could not confirm in 2026 that they still run as gay saunas, so treat them as "check first". The older names you may still find in forums, Sauna Caracas and Sauna Spartacus BA, have no current trace and we keep them archived. Expect a scene that is cheap by international standards, sociable, busiest on Sunday afternoons and honest about its wear and tear: Buenos Aires saunas are not Berlin or Madrid, and the reviews say so.
The verified saunas (men only)
All three venues below are for men over 18, work on the towel-and-locker system, and have a dark room, private cabins, a wet area and a bar. Entry prices in Argentina move with inflation almost monthly, so the figures here are the ones we had on file at our October 2026 check, in Argentine pesos (ARS); confirm at the door or on each venue's Instagram before you go.
HomoSapiens, Gascón 956, Almagro
The biggest and best-known sauna gay in the city, two blocks from Club Amerika. It spreads over several levels (about 1,200 m²) with a dry sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, maze and dark room, private cabins, a video room, massage tables and a rooftop terrace. Listings updated in July 2025 give opening hours of roughly midday to 22:00 every day; our October 2026 check had it running later, until midnight, with a cheaper weekday "matinée" between 12:00 and 14:00. Full entry was around ARS 12,000 at that check, including towel, locker and condoms, cash and card accepted. The crowd is the most mixed in Buenos Aires: locals of every age, plus visitors, with the biggest turnout on Sunday afternoons and occasional themed or naturist nights. Be realistic about upkeep: a July 2025 review complained about broken showers and damaged cubicles, while a 2026 visitor reported renovated cabins and sunbeds and a repaired entrance. Google sits at 3.6 from more than 350 ratings. Phone on file: 011 4862-6519.
Madison Club de Hombres, Av. Medrano 1047, Almagro
A five-minute walk from HomoSapiens, so many men do both on the same afternoon. Madison is a club de hombres over three floors with a heated pool, jacuzzi, dry and wet sauna, dark room, sling room, private cabins, a small cinema and a cocktail bar that gives the place a more social, lounge-like feel than its neighbour. Listings updated in July 2025 show 13:00 to 22:00 daily; our October 2026 check had 14:00 to midnight and a weekday matinée discount. Full entry was about ARS 10,000 at that check, towel, locker and condoms included, cash or card. The crowd skews 30-plus with a younger wave after 20:00 and at weekends. Reviews are split: regulars like the pool and the bar, out-of-towners have complained about cleanliness on some nights and about a run of closures and reopenings a few years ago. Google: 3.6 from almost 500 ratings. Phone on file: 011 4584-4097.
A Full, Viamonte 1770, Balvanera (near Callao)
The central option, a few blocks from Avenida Callao and Avenida Corrientes and the closest sauna to the Recoleta and Microcentro hotels. A Full is a men-only spa with Finnish sauna, steam room, hydrotherapy pool, showers, sunbeds, massage, a labyrinth with cabins and video zones, and a bar-restaurant. Most directories list 13:00 to 22:00 every day; one lists later weekend hours, so check the Instagram account (@bairesafull) for the current schedule. We do not have a confirmed 2026 entry price; expect it to sit in the same band as the Almagro saunas. A Full is the busiest of the three on Google (3.7 to 3.8 from around 770 reviews) and the one visitors most often compare favourably with saunas in Brazil: a varied crowd from twenties to seventies, small lockers, a lively afternoon. Older text on this site described it as a bar or club; that was wrong, it is a sauna.
Listed but unconfirmed: Unikus and Haven Spa
Unikus, Av. Pueyrredón 1180, 2nd floor, Recoleta
Unikus has been listed for around two decades on the Recoleta side of Once, in the space that housed the old Frisco sauna: steam, dry sauna, cabins, bar and a lounge, with a reputation for a slightly older, better-off crowd. In 2026 the picture is contradictory. One major gay guide labels the listing "Cerrado" (closed) without a date, while its own city overview still names Unikus among the best saunas in Buenos Aires. There is no website, no phone on file and only about 20 Google reviews (3.4). We keep the listing because nobody has produced a dated closure, but do not cross the city for it without ringing the bell or asking at HomoSapiens first. If you find it open or shut, tell us (see the last section).
Haven Spa Masculino, Virrey Cevallos 232, Monserrat (Congreso)
A small men-only spa a few blocks south of Congreso with good Google feedback (around 4.1 from some 60 reviews praising friendly staff and cleanliness) and a placeholder website. We could not establish whether it works as a gay sauna with a wet area and cruising, or as a massage studio for men. The phone on file is 011 6036-7728; call or message before going and ask directly what the format is. It stays on this page because it is men-only and gay-friendly, not because we can vouch for it as a bathhouse.
Closed or phantom listings
You will still see Sauna Caracas (Av. Callao 1062) and Sauna Spartacus BA (Bartolomé Mitre 1735) on older guide pages. We found no 2025 or 2026 evidence that either operates: no reviews, no social media, no listings on the main gay guides, and the Callao address is now a generic office building. Energy Spa (Bravard 1105, Villa Crespo) was never confirmed by a single real review and is archived. Kadu (Sánchez de Bustamante 1633, Palermo) appears in one guide as a neighbourhood sauna with a local crowd; we have no independent 2025-2026 confirmation and have not listed it. If you have been to any of these recently, we want to hear from you.
When to go
- Sunday afternoon (15:00 to 20:00) is the busiest slot across the city, especially at HomoSapiens. Saturday evening is second.
- Weekday matinée (12:00 to 14:00 at HomoSapiens, early afternoon at Madison) is cheaper and quiet: good if you want the heat and the pool rather than the crowd.
- Before the clubs: on Friday and Saturday a 19:00 to 22:00 visit to Madison or HomoSapiens leads naturally into Club Amerika next door or Glam Disco in Palermo, which do not fill until 02:00.
- Pride week: the Marcha del Orgullo (Saturday 7 November 2026) is the one weekend every sauna in town is packed from noon. Expect queues for cabins.
- Summer (December to February) is slower in the afternoons because of the heat and holidays; evenings pick up.
- Lockers are small, especially at A Full. Leave your passport and most of your cash at the hotel; bring ID (a photo of your passport on your phone is accepted at the door), one card and some pesos.
- Cash versus card: all three take cards, and card payments in Argentina are now charged close to the market exchange rate, so there is little reason to carry a wad of pesos. Small notes help at the bar.
- Consent is direct. Porteños are tactile but a clear "no, gracias" or a shake of the head is respected everywhere; persistence is not, and staff will intervene if asked.
- Cleanliness varies by night. Flip-flops are a good idea; shower before and after; report broken fittings at the desk rather than online only.
- Drinks: the bars sell beer, fernet and soft drinks. Do not accept open drinks from strangers; drink spiking is rare in saunas but has been reported in Buenos Aires nightlife.
- Photos are banned everywhere inside. Expect ejection without refund.
Getting there and getting home at night
HomoSapiens and Madison are in Almagro: Subte line B to Medrano is a short walk from both, and lines A and H are close too. A Full sits between Callao (line B) and Facultad de Medicina (line D). The Subte runs until about 23:00 on weekdays and 00:00 at weekends, so for a midnight exit use a taxi or app car: Uber, Cabify and DiDi all work in Buenos Aires and a ride from Almagro to Palermo or Recoleta is a few thousand pesos. Buses (colectivos) run all night but you need a SUBE card. Walking back along Avenida Corrientes or Avenida Córdoba is fine; avoid the quieter side streets of Balvanera around Once station late at night, where phone snatching is the main risk.
Apps and the sauna
Grindr is dominant in Buenos Aires and the saunas show up on it as clusters of profiles on Sunday afternoons; Scruff has a smaller, bearier crowd that leans toward Madison. Many locals use the apps to agree to meet at a sauna rather than at home, which is part of why the venues stay busy. Inside, phones stay in lockers: all three venues ban photography in the wet areas and cabins and will throw you out for it.
The law
Argentina is one of the safest legal environments in the Americas. Same-sex relations have been legal since 1887, same-sex marriage since July 2010 (the first in Latin America, with full joint adoption), and the 2012 Gender Identity Law lets anyone change their legal gender by simple declaration. A 2021 decree added a non-binary X marker. What the country still lacks is a national anti-discrimination statute; protections exist in Buenos Aires City but not federally. Since 2024 the national government has moved against the grain, abolishing the anti-discrimination agency INADI and attempting in early 2025 to ban gender-affirming care for minors (a federal court suspended the decree within weeks). None of this touches saunas: adult, consensual sex in a licensed private venue is lawful, the venues operate openly and advertise, and police do not raid them. Public sex outdoors is a different matter and can be charged under city contraventions; keep that for the cruising pages.
Health: PrEP, testing and urgent care
HIV testing in Argentina is free, confidential and available without a doctor's order at any public hospital or health centre; rapid finger-prick tests give a result in about 20 minutes. In the city the reference centre for gay and bisexual men is the infectious diseases service at Hospital Fernández (Av. Cerviño 3356, Palermo), which also runs the public PrEP programme; PrEP is free through the public system for residents and visitors can usually get a bridging supply if they bring their prescription. Fundación Huésped (huesped.org.ar) publishes current testing points and campaigns. For PEP after a condom failure go to any hospital guardia within 72 hours, ideally within 24, and ask for "profilaxis post exposición"; Hospital Fernández and Hospital Muñiz are the two that handle it routinely. Condoms are included in the entry at HomoSapiens and Madison and sold at the bar; bring your own lubricant.
Safety and etiquette
Nearby alternatives if the saunas are quiet
Buenos Aires has more cruise bars and sex clubs than saunas, and they fill the late-night gap after the saunas shut. Zoom (Uriburu 1018, Recoleta) is the long-running central cruise club with dark rooms and cabins, more club than spa, open until the early hours. Tom's and Boys Bar cover the men-only bar-with-dark-room format, and Zafiro is the leather-and-fetish option. For the classic old-school night out, Contramano in Recoleta has run since 1984. Outdoor cruising at Bosques de Palermo and the Reserva Ecológica is daytime, discreet and covered on the cruising map. Bears have their own calendar through the Club de Osos de Buenos Aires, and men-only accommodation is at Lugar Gay B&B in San Telmo. See all bars and clubs and cruising spots in the city.

This guide was rewritten in November 2026 from directory listings updated in 2025 and 2026, Google reviews, and our own October 2026 venue check. We did not find a single current official website for any Buenos Aires sauna, so prices and hours are only as good as the last visitor who told us. If Unikus is open or closed, if Haven turns out to be a bathhouse or a massage studio, if a price has jumped or a venue has shut, use the "suggest an edit" link on the venue page or write to us, and say when you were there. We update the venue cards within days and this guide at the next review.
