We booked Hotel 1911 very last minute after leaving another hotel because the conditions there were honestly unacceptable. The difference was immediately noticeable. The staff at 1911 was very friendly and helpful from the start, the room was clean, and overall the atmosphere felt much more welcoming and professional. It gave us exactly what we needed after a stressful situation. What impressed us most, however, happened after we had already checked out the next morning. We both had stomach issues before our Machu Picchu visit and could not eat scrambled eggs because they were made with butter. At our new hotel we asked if it would be possible to get hard boiled eggs instead and were simply told “no”. So I went back across the street to Hotel 1911 and asked their cook the exact same question, even though we were no longer guests there. He immediately said yes and prepared them for us without hesitation, and he did not even want to take any money for it. It was such a small gesture, but after feeling sick and stressed before a long Machu Picchu day, it genuinely meant a lot to us. That kind of kindness and hospitality is something people remember.

WiFi is really slow. Bed is very creaky. Seems to offer no room cleaning? Bathroom waste bin does not have a lid. Room only came with a singular towel which is odd (had to ask for another, hand towel, etc). Only offers hot water (no filtered water). Definitely need earplugs, outside alley/street is extremely noisy. Breakfast is nice with made to order eggs.

The room looked exactly as the pictures and was very comfortable. No view for us as our window looked out to the adjacent building 5 feet away. Service is top notch, very accommodating and meet us at the train station. Breakfast was a good selection of breads, fruits, pastries, coffee, tea and cooked to order eggs. The one negative was the lukewarm warm, at best, shower. Had we stayed more than one night this would have been a serious problem. It was tolerable for the one night because at least it wasn’t cold! If you are a light sleeper, definitely bring ear plugs. The stair case is located in the center of the building with the rooms circling the stair case. You can hear people going up and down the stairs all night.

Great breakfast, cool vibes, the elevator was out while we were there so stairs may be required
