Nice hotel, room temperature very comfortable, and clean. Excellent food and service at hotel restaurant. Great location and friendly staff!

Pros: Good location and friendly staff Cons: Awful rooms. A/C didn’t work and only blew hot air, TV didn’t work, bathroom sink didn’t drain. Everything in the room was extremely outdated. I get it’s an old and historic building, but that shouldn’t mean the TV is from the 1970s also. For $300 a night that was ridiculous. It got to the point we were just laughing at finding the next thing wrong in the room.

Great weekend stay right next to the lake! Our room got upgraded which was excellent and had option for early check in and late check out. 11/10 staff from the front desk, housekeeping, and wait staff in the restaurant! Couldn't ask for better service 🤙🏻

Summary: 1) front desk was frankly rude, especially during check in. 2) staff cancelled my in-laws’ reservation without notice and without accommodation. 3) housekeeping stole my wife’s Apple Watch. This hotel tried to single-handedly ruin our family vacation. Before our trip, we filled out a pre-check in form. My wife and I decided to try to work our first morning in Chicago after we requested an early check in. We received an email saying that request was approved, and when we arrived at the hotel that morning the front desk gave my wife a look like she had two heads and pretty rudely told her that they couldn’t fulfill that request regardless of approval. No matter, we had to find a quiet place to work which was tough at the Knickerbocker especially with a conference going on but we managed. The fun then started the night my in-laws flew in, were delayed on takeoff so they happened to land at O’Hare around 1 AM and got to the hotel a little after 2. Upon arrival they were told that the hotel cancelled their reservation. Why? Nobody there seemed to have a good explanation. So they had to find a new hotel on a very busy weekend, and ended up having to book a hotel out near the airport. What should’ve been a nice weekend staying in the same hotel turned into a weekend of a million uber rides to see each other and hang out. The final straw was my wife getting her Apple Watch stolen out of our room. We have been tracking the devices location and have notified the police. With the amount of great hotels in this city I will never be staying here again, and will sooner stay across the street at the Drake where they were very nice and accommodating to us even though we weren’t staying there. I will forever tell everybody I know that they should avoid this place like the plague and frankly if I had my way this place would no longer do business in Chicago.

My stay was extremely disappointing from start to finish. When I arrived, the front desk staff was rude when I asked about an early check-in request that I had submitted in advance. The interaction felt dismissive and set a negative tone for the stay. The most frustrating issue involved my parents' reservation. After a delayed flight, they arrived in the middle of the night only to discover that their room had been canceled by the night manager, despite having completed the pre-check-in process and having already paid for the room in full. Being left without a room after a late-night arrival was unacceptable. To make matters worse, after checking out I realized I had left my Apple Watch behind. I returned about two hours later, but the watch could not be located. Using Apple's tracking features, I later observed the device at a location unrelated to me (I’ve given their address to the police). I reported this information to the hotel, but I felt my concerns were not taken seriously and no meaningful effort was made to help resolve the situation. The same employee who was dismissive during check-in was also working when I reported the missing watch and remained unhelpful throughout the interaction. Overall, the combination of poor customer service, reservation issues, and the handling of my missing property made this one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. Save yourself the trouble and stay across the street at The Drake instead.
