Hilton Garden Inn Independence

Great place to stay near KC away from busy areas. Very nice breakfast for purchase, beautiful place and relatively quiet. Staff were very kind. Easy parking. Perhaps not glamorous but the most comfortable hotel experience across US travels I can remember

I’ve spent a significant portion of my life at Hilton Garden Inns and this was the worst experience I’ve had. Immediately upon entering the elevator I noticed the carpet squares were peeling and stained (not a great sign). I got to my room, carrying luggage and desperately needing the restroom after a long drive, to find the digital key didn’t work. Went to the front desk to get a physical key and once I finally got into the room I noticed the floors hadn’t been vacuumed, counter tops had some small debris, and there was hair, a dead bug, and a piece of jewelry on the floor of the bathroom. The AC was also making noise. I again went to the front desk, this time asking for a new room. They didn’t have one. Barely seemed to care. I asked that they fix the AC and clean the floors while I was out to dinner. When I returned, the bathroom floor was a little better, the AC sounded a bit better, but the rest wasn’t touched. The jewelry in back of the bathroom floor under the sink was still there, so I know it was a quick, careless job. Having no choice and being exhausted, I gave up, quickly cleaning the countertops myself and just dealing with the dirty carpet. Before bed I went to hang my clothes for the next day but discovered there were no hangars. I brushed my teeth, went to bed, and then heard water dripping. The pipe under the sink was leaking. I put towels under it for the night. The next morning I asked that they fix the sink. When I came back it was fixed, but they left the gross, now soaked towels I had placed underneath. Very professional. At no point in all of this did the staff seem concerned at all. I have a feeling it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary for them. I’ll never stay there again.

It's very clean I always choose Hilton i never been disappointed. Staff is great very friendly and polite they do a awesome job.

Spacious rooms, clean building. Located close to cable Dahmer areama.

stay here only if absolutely necessary. entire place smells nasty. our room had moldy signs and smelled like cigarettes and animal urine. carpets were stained. walls stained and peeling. just overall gross vibe. we stayed for location only so tried to only be there to sleep. that said. pillows were comfy. bed and pull out couch were clean. clean linens. air conditioner works well we had 2 and stayed perfect temp. shower drained fine and plenty of hot water. staff was always super friendly and helpful. would not stay again because was overall gross smell throughout and elevator was shredded grimy carpet and walls plus had a worry about it getting stuck. pool wasn’t cloudy and appeared clean but very cold for an indoor pool. only used once. pool bathroom and surrounding patio was also grimy gross. had signs throughout about a remodel but i think it’s beyond remodeling. sad since the location and size of this place is so nice.

Went to my 50th class reunion in the ballroom, didn't stay in a room.
