Southbank Hotel Jacksonville Riverwalk

The church I attend, Dominion Church uses the facilities in the conference area for our services and not only do we appreciate them allowing us to do so but it's a beautiful facility.

In my opinion, I wasn’t really expecting nothing nice but when I got my room and I was really happy of how clean the room was, which it made me had a great stay at the hotel Plus ms.sunshine was awesome recommending some of the local places to have lunch 10/10! I really recommend this hotel and if you like to walk or have a run the riverwalk is literally outside of the hotel.

I stayed at this hotel in mid-February 2026, and it was honestly one of the most run-down hotels I have encountered in decades. It is gross, and pictures will speak better than words. There were problems throughout the property: • The guest rooms were dirty (see the attached photos of the room bathroom door). • The lobby restroom looked extremely dated, almost abandoned, and several toilets were clogged. • The paid breakfast was unacceptable. Dirty plates with chewing gum still stuck to them were placed in the clean plate stack, and the food selection and quality were very poor. • The furniture is well beyond the end of its useful life (see the attached photo of the conference room table). • The hallways are also in very poor condition, with worn doors and finishes. In my opinion, this property needs a complete renovation rather than cosmetic touch-ups. During my stay, construction work was being done while guests were in the hotel. Gym had no doors - and kids had easy access to adult exercise equipment, which raised safety concerns. Considering the price, there are many newer, cleaner, and much better-maintained hotels in the area that offer a significantly better value. If all other hotels are fully booked, I will rather sleep in my car but will not stay in this hotel again.

The rooms are nice, no view except at the restaurant. Not a tall building. Close to Riverwalk. It was being renovated during my stay and the surrounding area July 2026. Beware pay to park.

Amazing service from check-in to parking & food accommodations! Sunshine & Jalissa were so helpful from the start of my stay. Would 100% recommend this hotel.

The staff is amazing! Shout out to Gabe snd his team for hanging up all of our banners, stages, tables, and chairs for the Miss National American Teen and Collegiate competition. The check-in area was perfect and we reused it for putting together care bags for a local homeless shelter. The Sails ballroom worked well for our smaller stage for state queen crowning and awards, fashion show, DJ party, and finally as an area for hair/make up/dressing room. The staff was VERY accommodating and helped us with everything we requested help for. They really went above and beyond to make the weekend run smoothly. The location is perfect as you have direct access to Jacksonville’s Riverwalk, Friendship Fountain, and many great dining options. Another shout out to the service at the restaurant and bar. They were amazing and insisted on hand delivering my food when I was too busy and couldn’t make it to the restaurant to eat with my party. 100/10 for service!

comfortable and accommodating stay

Rooms don't compare to pictures being advertised. Not quite cleaned like I preferred it to be, lighting in room was terrible, linen wasn't trustworthy enough to get a good night's rest, just for one night's stay the price was extremely too high, service was good but the area is pretty much all I paid for. Breakfast restaurant was the highlight of the stay, very good service and food was worth paying for. Overall hotel needs a touch up and cleanliness is what most families are looking for, so administrators need to get in touch with the cleaners and make them aware, please revamp this hotel before considering to charge travelers and visitors an arm and leg. Hotel has been there for 10 + years so money is being spent for stay but I'm guessing it's being spent incorrectly when it comes to maintenance. Just my thoughts for travelers and returning visitors. ONE last thing when there are workers smoking in front of hotel while on the clock it doesn't look good, first impression is everything please be mindful of your customers health issues. Thank you but I will not be returning to this hotel.

Ok where do I start. So hotel doing some renovations going on a lot of the remedies were available. No laundry, ice machines, lobby bathroom and the bar was out of service. Due to these remedies were lnt available but their website said they were available which I feel they should accommodate with free parking due these were available. Then the room we acquired was decent but their door was rubbing on the frame which cause the door to not be fully secured. And when I walked down the hall I notice multiple of door having the same issues when the door not fully secure. Now let talk about the pool. First time in the pool feel good due to the temperature. But the second day, I notice algea was developing. That it.

The location was great but the hotel is in the middle of a lot of repairs and the parking situation is pretty wild. We prepaid but then we got there they tried to tell us that they were sold out even though again, we prepaid. The location is great but I feel like it should be cheaper until the repairs are made. Do NOT stay at this hotel. I’m not sure why so many reviews are blaming the filth on the remodel/construction, but it’s YEARS of dirt, dust, and filth everywhere. The elevators smelled like sewage and the floors were disgusting. I stayed from June 12th-14th for a family reunion. I only give the location two stars because you could see the river from my room, but other than that, the location is bad. This part of town is abandoned. I can tell the city is trying to revive it but there were so many homeless people on the streets and there weren’t any restaurants near other than the Chart House. Photos attached.
