Stayed here for a few days during my trip to San Francisco and had a great experience overall. The location is hard to beat. Everything was nearby, and it made getting around the city very easy. The hotel itself feels elegant and well maintained without being over the top. My room was clean, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet for such a central location. The bed was comfortable, and I slept very well during my stay. I only had breakfast once, but it was good. I also had dinner at Bombay Brasserie during my stay. My only complaint was the speed of service. Everyone was polite and professional, but everything moved incredibly slowly. As a New Yorker, that was probably the most frustrating part of the stay. A simple request often took much longer than expected, which became a bit annoying after a while. Other than that, I really enjoyed this hotel. Great location, comfortable room, and a very pleasant stay overall. I would definitely stay here again when visiting San Francisco

Poor experience overall. Very old and dated hotel and amenities are bare boned. Gym is outdoor and old. Breakfast service is extremely slow and not worth the time or the money. We had vouchers for our stay as I had prepaid to include breakfast, but had to skip it on two days because the lines were so long. The breakfast buffet is quite minimal and not worth the $30. (It was included in our pre paid vouchers but the seeing cost on the menu was appalling because it was not worth the price). The breakfast service was also highly understaffed. Mattress is very soft and uncomfortable. The daily mandatory amenity fee does not really include much other than free coffee and pastries in the lobby which is again, not worth the price. Do not waste your money on this hotel. Does not live upto it’s five star or Taj brand name unfortunately. Probably would get better hotels at similar rates in the Union Square area. Only positive is that the area/location was decent and staff was courteous.

Pretty unimpressed with this hotel. Room was not ready an hour after check-in time. No late night menu or room service. But they definitely charged a $35/night “resort fee” for bottled water and wi-fi. You’ll be happier at the Best Western. I would avoid this hotel.

One word to sum it up...terrible. Claims 5 stars, not even close. Rooms are small and seriously dated. The beds are hard as a brick. Bathrooms are pitiful. And I had a rental car that was left in a locked garage despite repeated requests for them to take it out before the garage locked. Will never stay at a Taj property again and neither should you.
