After a turbulent period—the original organizer, Gold Coast Rainbow Communities, wound up in 2025 and that year's festival was cancelled—a new not-for-profit, the Gold Coast Pride Collective, launched in September 2025 and revived the celebration. In 2026, Fair Day moves to a new home at HOTA (Home of the Arts) in Surfers Paradise on Saturday, June 27, with community stalls, live entertainment, and family-friendly festivities. Beyond Pride, the city has dance parties and themed events, especially around the summer holidays and Easter.
Getting around and staying
Surfers Paradise is the natural base. It's close to nightlife, the beach, and the G:link light rail that connects Southport, Surfers Paradise, and Broadbeach. Gold Coast Airport (Coolangatta) is about 25 kilometers south. Brisbane is an easy day trip north if you want a bigger scene. Accommodation runs from budget backpackers to beachfront resorts. Gay-friendly options cluster in Surfers Paradise, including large international-brand hotels a short walk from Cavill Avenue.
