The honest summary: Cork has one dedicated LGBTQ+ club, Wilde, and a busy calendar of drag brunches and queer club nights hosted by otherwise mainstream venues. If a list shows you five or six "gay bars" in Cork, it is out of date. This page tells you what is actually running in October 2026.

Wilde: the one dedicated club

Wilde, at 64 Oliver Plunkett Street, describes itself as Cork's only late-night LGBTQ+ inclusive nightclub, and we found nothing to contradict that. The building has had three names in three years: Conway's Yard, then Vibe (from February 2024), then Wilde after the Clancy's group took it over in November 2024 (GCN covered the relaunch). Expect drag, live singers, karaoke, quizzes and DJs on weekend nights; 2026 included a Pride quiz in late July and a Halloween night. It closes around 2:30am. Nights change, so check wildecork.com or its Instagram before going. Google reviews are mixed (around 3.3), with the usual complaints about late-night drink prices. It is also the only bar on Gay Project's Gay Card list of welcoming businesses.

Gay-friendly: Nudes Craft & Cocktail

Nudes Craft & Cocktail on Lavitt's Quay is a cocktail and craft-beer bar with a kitchen doing toasties and burgers. It is not a gay bar, but Gay Project holds its LGBTQI+ parents' meetings there, which is more than most "friendly" listings can show. It is a conversation-and-cocktails room rather than a dance floor, and about ten minutes' walk from Wilde.

Drag and club nights (check dates)

Much of queer Cork happens as nights at venues that are otherwise mainstream. None of these is weekly:

    • Mockie Ah! – the drag collective founded in 2017 by Candy Warhol and the busiest name in town. Drag brunches at Clancy's on Princes Street and at Sky Bar on Marlboro Street (a Cork Jazz Festival brunch on 24 October 2026, a bottomless brunch on 7 November), a "Camp Culture" residency at The Everyman, and an annual Pride party at The Pav on Carey's Lane (2 August 2026).
    • Milk – queer club night at Dali on Carey's Lane; Milk Pride ran on 31 July 2026.
    • SAINTS – drag and cabaret party at Kino, Washington Street, with a Pride edition on 2 August 2026.
    • Taboo – its Cork Pride party at Cyprus Avenue, Caroline Street, is a summer fixture.

Our Cork events page collects the ones that are announced.

    Cruise club

There is no gay sauna in Cork. Brief Encounters, at 3 Connell Street near Parnell Place bus station, is a dry adult cruise club with cinemas, booths, a sling room and dark areas, open from noon daily. A late-2025 listing said only the shop was open during renovation, so check its website before going.

    Closed or changed

    Names old guides still list:

    • Loafers, Douglas Street – Ireland's oldest gay bar when it closed in May 2015.
    • Chambers, Washington Street – stopped being a gay bar in September 2023 when it became Sinners.
    • Atlas, Marlboro Street – a drag-run queer bar from 2022; we found nothing on it after that year, its website is gone and the building now trades as Sky Bar.
    • Vibe and Conway's Yard – earlier names of Wilde, not separate bars.
    • Soho and The Loft – closed.

Practical tips

Everything above is in the walkable city centre: Oliver Plunkett Street, Carey's Lane and Princes Street are within five minutes of each other. Pubs shut earlier than clubs, which is why the night usually ends at Wilde. The legal drinking age is 18, and clubs often ask for ID. In October 2025 two drag performers were attacked while filming on Oliver Plunkett Street (the attacker was jailed for eight months), so late on weekend nights use normal city sense and take a taxi home if you need one.

FAQ

How many gay bars are there in Cork? One dedicated LGBTQ+ club, Wilde. Everything else is gay-friendly or a promoter night at a mainstream venue.

Which night is best? Friday or Saturday at Wilde, or a weekend drag brunch from Mockie Ah! if one is on.

Is there a lesbian bar? No. LINQ Ireland on White Street runs social groups for lesbian, bisexual and queer women.
