トラベルガイド
出発前に知っておくべきすべてのこと。
The honest summary: A Coruña is Galicia's second city, a port of about 250,000 people on the Atlantic with a Roman lighthouse, glass-balconied seafronts and a long beach promenade. Its gay scene is small: one LGBTQ+ bar, one gay sauna, and two Pride events in summer that are much bigger than the nightlife would suggest. There's no gay district. What there is fits into a weekend: drag at Claro Boba! in the Orzán bar strip, the June march from Praza de Ourense to María Pita, and Atlantic Pride, a free week of open-air concerts in early July. Come for the sea, the seafood and the old town, and treat the gay nightlife as one good late night rather than a circuit.
Legal in one line: Spain has had same-sex marriage since July 2005 (Ley 13/2005), an equal-treatment law since 2022 (Ley 15/2022) and legal gender self-identification plus a ban on conversion therapy since Ley 4/2023; Galicia added its own LGBTI equality law, Lei 2/2014, in April 2014.
Claro Boba! is the city's LGBTQ+ bar, at Rúa do Socorro 37 in the Orzán nightlife strip, a few minutes up from Riazor beach. Its own website calls it "your local de ambiente LGTBQI+ in A Coruña" and spells out the crowd: gays, lesbians, bi and trans people, drag artists and allies. It's a late bar with a small dance floor, not a big club, and the crowd is young and mixed.
Drag is the reason to go. The site lists a show most weekends, including the Drag & Chill series (season 6 running in October 2026), and touring queens play here: Planomato listed Manila Luzon's Halloween show in October 2025 and a stop on the Onyx drag tour in February 2026. Opening hours on its site are Thursday, Friday, Saturday and the eve of public holidays, from midnight to 04:30. Nobody turns up before 00:30.
That's the whole dedicated scene. The rest of Orzán and the Pescadería are ordinary Spanish nightlife: mixed pubs and clubs that are generally relaxed about same-sex couples, but not gay venues. Backstage Club on Ruela da Estacada sometimes books drag and describes itself as inclusive, but it's a mainstream DJ club, so we don't list it as LGBTQ+.

Sauna Odín is A Coruña's gay sauna, at Rúa Nova Travesía de Boavista 4 in Os Castros, east of the centre near the Alfonso Molina road. Its Instagram (@saunaodin) lists a Finnish sauna, a Turkish steam bath, a jacuzzi, a cinema room, a darkroom and a bar, and the photos show a small, purple-lit place rather than a big spa. It has posted regularly from late 2025 through September 2026, so it's open. Google reviews from early 2026 mention a €15 entry (more on public holidays) and an 11 pm close. Hours aren't published outside an Instagram highlight, so phone 607 82 38 19 before you go. It's a ten-minute taxi ride from Orzán.
We found no outdoor cruising area that two independent sources name, so we don't list one. Apps are how most local men meet.
The nearest naturist beaches are Barrañán and As Combouzas, next to each other in Arteixo, west of the city. Both are listed as nudist beaches, but they're mixed family beaches, not gay ones. The city's own beaches (Riazor, Orzán, Matadero, San Amaro, Oza and As Lapas) are ordinary town beaches.

A Coruña has two summer Prides, run by different groups, a week apart.
Orgullo Coruña, the march, is organised by the association ALAS A Coruña. It's held on 28 June whatever the weekday, at 19:30, from Praza de Ourense to Praza de María Pita, where the manifesto is read in front of the city hall. In 2025 that was a Saturday and in 2026 a Sunday. ALAS builds a Pride Month programme around it: talks, workshops, screenings and small neighbourhood prides in Os Castros, Monte Alto, O Ventorrillo and A Agra. The 2027 march hadn't been announced when we checked in October 2026; 28 June 2027 falls on a Monday.
Atlantic Pride is a free open-air music festival run by the Asociación Orgullo Coruña (ORCO). The 2026 edition ran from 5 to 12 July in Praza de Pontevedra and the Méndez Núñez gardens, with Kika Lorace, Zahara, Soraya, Azúcar Moreno, Whigfield and Ricky Merino on the bill; the 2025 edition ran 6 to 13 July. It won a national equality award in March 2026. Dates for 2027 hadn't been announced at the time of writing.
Elsewhere in Galicia, Vigo has its own march and an Orgullo Crítico in late June, and Santiago runs a smaller Pride programme. The city's libraries run As Municipais Entenden, an LGBTI collection with a book club, QUEERuña, and the QUEERuña literature prize is presented during Atlantic Pride.
Day to day, relaxed. Spanish law is among the most protective in Europe, the city council funds both Prides and its own LGBTIQA+ service, and holding hands on the promenade won't draw much attention. Galicia is more conservative than Madrid or Barcelona, mostly in the villages, not in the city.
The city also carries a hard memory. On 3 July 2021 Samuel Luiz, a 24-year-old nursing assistant, was beaten to death on the promenade by Riazor beach while his attackers called him "maricón". The killing set off protests across Spain. A jury convicted four men in November 2024; in January 2025 the court handed down sentences of 24, 20 and 20.5 years, with a homophobic hate aggravating factor for the main attacker, and the Supreme Court made them final in December 2025 (an accomplice's 10-year sentence was overturned on appeal). Every 3 July there's a vigil near the spot, and Pride programmes in the city include it. Two Senegalese men who tried to help him, Ibrahima Diack and Magatte N'Diaye, were made honorary citizens in February 2025.
The practical advice is the same as anywhere late at night: stick with friends, use a licensed taxi home from Orzán, and report any incident to the Policía Nacional (091) or the local police (092).

There are no gay hotels in A Coruña; every hotel below is mainstream. Where you sleep mostly decides how far you walk home from Claro Boba!.
Book early for late June and the first half of July, when both Prides fall.

By air: A Coruña airport (LCG, Alvedro) is in Culleredo, about 10 km from the centre. The airport bus (line 4051/A4) runs into town every 30 minutes on weekdays and hourly at weekends for €1.55, taking 25–30 minutes. Santiago airport (SCQ), with more international flights, is about 72 km away; there's no direct bus, so take the airport bus to Santiago and then a train.
By train: the Madrid–Galicia high-speed line opened in December 2021; the fastest AVE takes about 3 h 35 min from Madrid, and trains to Santiago take 26–31 minutes. San Cristóbal station is being rebuilt as an intermodal hub named after the actress María Casares, with a temporary station in use since December 2024.
In town: the centre is compact and walkable; taxis are easy to find late at night.
When to go: late June to mid-July covers both Prides and the best chance of sun. The Atlantic weather is mild but rainy most of the year.
Last verified: October 2026.
One that we could verify in 2026: Claro Boba!, at Rúa do Socorro 37 in the Orzán nightlife strip near Riazor beach. Its own site calls it the city's LGTBQI+ bar; it has drag shows most weekends and opens Thursday to Saturday and on the eve of public holidays, midnight to 04:30. The rest of Orzán is mixed, mainstream nightlife.
Yes, one: Sauna Odín, at Rúa Nova Travesía de Boavista 4 in Os Castros, east of the centre. Its Instagram lists a Finnish sauna, steam bath, jacuzzi, cinema room, darkroom and bar, and it was posting regularly through September 2026. Hours and prices aren't published, so call 607 82 38 19 before going.
There are two. The Orgullo march, organised by ALAS A Coruña, is held on 28 June at 19:30 from Praza de Ourense to Praza de María Pita, whatever the weekday (a Sunday in 2026). Atlantic Pride, a free music festival run by ORCO, follows in early July: 5 to 12 July in 2026, in Praza de Pontevedra and the Méndez Núñez gardens. Neither had announced 2027 details by October 2026.
Generally yes. Spain has had same-sex marriage since 2005, Galicia has its own LGBTI equality law from 2014, and the city funds both Prides and a free LGBTIQA+ service, Espazo Diverso. The city also remembers Samuel Luiz, killed in a homophobic attack by Riazor beach in July 2021; the attackers' sentences became final in December 2025. Use normal late-night sense and take a licensed taxi home.
Not a gay one. The city beaches (Riazor, Orzán, Matadero, San Amaro, Oza, As Lapas) are ordinary town beaches. The nearest naturist beaches are Barrañán and As Combouzas in Arteixo, west of the city; they're mixed family beaches, not gay ones. We don't list any outdoor cruising area.
A Coruña airport (LCG, Alvedro) is about 10 km from the centre, linked by the 4051/A4 bus (€1.55, every 30 minutes on weekdays). Santiago airport (SCQ) is about 72 km away, via the airport bus to Santiago and a train. High-speed AVE trains reach Madrid in about 3 h 35 min, and Santiago is under half an hour by train.
