Kaohsiung Pride is Taiwan's second major annual pride event, held in the southern port city that has been competing with Taipei for the title of Taiwan's most creative city. In a country that legalised same-sex marriage in 2019, both cities' pride events are genuinely celebratory — and Kaohsiung's event has a slightly more relaxed, local character than the enormous Taipei parade.
