Heaney's do fantastic food, no one can knock that. I've been twice now. The second time I went, the menu was very unusual and didn't suit me but also, the staff were quite rude, just blankly ignoring me and leaving the table immediately. A place that charges a lot and puts a service charge automatically on bills, it's poor form. I've also recently learnt that they want to expand their license with the council in direct opposition to the residential housing they sit amongst, more poor form. If they want to reap the benefits of a nightlife, they should move to a non-residential area and pay the high rent that comes with it. You can't have cheaper rent by going somewhere quiet and then making loud noises till 11pm. ETA, the outdoor planning permission (I assumed it came under licensing) issue was reported by nation.cymru and includes Heaney's actions which are different to their response on my review. Seems like someones crossed some wires somewhere
I had high hopes for our visit but left pretty disappointed. We were a table of 7 so apparently the only option was to have the tasting menu. We went for the shorter one (£60), and most of the table also had the wine pairing (an extra £55). For that price, we expected the timings of the drinks to match up to the meals, but the wine was often served way before (and pretty ungenerously), resulting in all three sips being drank before the dish arrived, or after the dish had already been eaten. The wine pairing only got explained after asking, and even then it was rushed and uninformative. Throughout our time there, the staff didn’t make much of an effort to make us feel welcomed, or make chit chat with us. The experience left us feeling flat and not somewhere we’d rush to go back to.

True fine dining: esthetically beautiful dishes with delicious flavors to match. From delicate oysters to robust duck croquettes, the taster platter displayed a wide range of flavor qualities. Heaneys gave the impression that it was steadfastly adhering to its fundamental objective of producing cuisine that tastes well and looks nice, despite the fact that it is quite easy for this type of food to get lost in its own pretension. Excellent personnel as well. I'm delighted to describe each ingredient and how it contributes to the recipe, even providing simpletons like us with clear flavor references.
