Sobre este lugar 1866 Court & Suites

1866 Court & Suites is a mainstream suite hotel on Bliss Street in Hamra, close to the American University of Beirut. It is listed as gay-friendly, not as a gay hotel. Guests get modern, corporate-style rooms, and Hamra's cafés and bars are within walking distance. Same-sex relations remain legally risky in Lebanon and public attitudes vary, so keep a low profile in public spaces, including the hotel. It rates 4.4 on Google from about 265 reviews.

What was supposed to be a pleasant stay at 1866 Court & Suites on Bliss Street turned into one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. When checking out, I asked for my security deposit to be returned. As I counted the cash, I immediately noticed it was short. I went back to the front desk and asked Mr. Raydan to review my deposit along with my laundry and other charges. After calculating the expenses, I explained that he had returned less than what I had paid, as my deposit was USD 200. Rather than contacting the colleague who had originally received my payment to verify the amount, he refused and instead said he would review the CCTV footage. After some time, he returned with footage showing me handing over money, but the recording did not show the denomination or amount. It proved neither his claim nor mine. Instead of handling the situation professionally, Mr. Raydan crossed his arms, raised his voice, and accused me of lying. At that point, it became clear that the conversation was going nowhere. I left and informed them that I would contact the relevant authorities regarding the dispute. Shortly afterward, I realized I had accidentally left my insulin in the room’s refrigerator. I immediately called the hotel and asked them to set it aside for me. They later called back claiming that it could not be found, despite the fact that I had specifically left it in the fridge. Losing essential medication added even more stress to an already unacceptable situation. What upsets me most is not the disputed USD 100. During my stay of approximately 12 nights, I paid around USD 160 per night, spending nearly USD 2,000 at this hotel. This was never about the money. It was about honesty, accountability, and the way I was treated as a paying guest. The complete lack of professionalism, the dismissive attitude, and the disrespect I experienced were shocking. No guest should be spoken to or treated this way. To make matters worse, after I called again in an attempt to resolve the issue, Mrs. Raydan Salha responded by saying, “Stop calling, 3am btewja3li rasek” (“You’re giving me a headache”). I have never experienced such an unprofessional response from hotel staff. I also believe the colleague who originally accepted my deposit could easily confirm that I paid USD 200, just as I did during my previous stay last year. I sincerely hope the hotel’s management and ownership investigate the conduct of the front desk staff. The way this situation was handled reflects very poorly on the establishment. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend staying here and would strongly advise future guests to think carefully before booking.
