Hotel Gasthaus Schiff

There were five of us who had made a reservation. The restaurant was quite busy that Saturday evening, and we were seated in the blue section. It wasn't warm there, and the presence of two other groups made it rather noisy. The menu was significantly reduced, offering only one dish (schnitzel with fries) for around €20. We ordered this and were very happy with it; unlike the service. The server didn't ask if everything was alright and otherwise didn't bother to check on us.

A very warm welcome in a charming hotel. The staff were friendly and attentive. The room was pleasant and very quiet, facing the courtyard, though you could hear a little traffic on the street side. Comfortable bedding. The bar had a relaxed atmosphere. The dining room's decor evoked a nautical theme. The tram was nearby for easy access to the city center.

Room too small. No air conditioning; we were there at the beginning of July when it was so hot. We had to leave the window open all night because it was too noisy, so we got very little sleep. Bathroom okay. The toilet paper holder had brownish residue from previous guests, not very appetizing. Breakfast wasn't worth the room price; there are better hotels in Freiburg that are cheaper and offer more. I can't recommend it. The tram connection is very good, about a 7-minute walk. The staff is helpful.

Quiet location, simple breakfast and an uncomfortable bed.

Good food and good wines, as well as friendly service.
