We were really excited when we arrived. They couldn't find our booking on Booking.com and had to search for it. We were allowed to sit in the lobby, where drinks and small snacks are available for guests. After waiting at reception for over an hour, we were told that the error was Booking.com's fault. They promised us a room, manually re-entered our booking, and demanded prepayment on our credit card. Of course, they pointed us to the hotel's own website. After the receptionist checked us in, we finally got a room. There was NO apology for this inconvenience; instead, Booking.com was blamed. Strangely enough, I witnessed the same ordeal with another guest the very next day. So much for the claim that this has never happened before. He, however, checked in much faster. Naturally, we contacted Booking.com and the hotel in writing. It turned out that, despite our "pay on arrival" booking, the hotel had tried to charge our credit card a second time, this time through Booking.com. Since we obviously didn't provide the same contact information on-site, this thankfully didn't work. Consequently, our hotel booking through Booking.com was strangely canceled, even though we had checked in. According to the hotel, this was Booking.com's fault. However, Booking.com was able to verify that the booking was canceled after the failed check-in (which shouldn't have even taken place). This was extremely frustrating for us. The hotel remained silent after forwarding Booking.com's response. At check-out, we weren't even asked how we enjoyed our stay. The conversation was brief and to the point, just about the bill. I should mention that this time it was a different employee than at check-in. For us, this level of professionalism is unacceptable.
Our dissatisfaction didn't end in the room. After finding a dirty shower and soiled bedsheets, we complained about the room. We were then given a much brighter room. The bathtub wasn't the best either, as the silicone sealant was darkly discolored, but we didn't want to make a third complaint. For a hotel in this price range, that's unacceptable. You'll find shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, a hairdryer, soap, body lotion, a cosmetic bag with cotton pads, a nail file, and cotton swabs. There was complimentary water, both still and sparkling. The minibar doesn't really cool, even when it's running. Two cups of tea, a kettle, instant coffee, and tea bags are also provided. The curtains darken the room nicely at night. The air conditioning works perfectly.
The housekeeping staff is a mixed bag. They changed a sweaty pillow, but didn't change a sheet with similar stains, which speaks volumes about the hotel's overall quality. It's worth mentioning, however, that they are friendly.
The breakfast buffet was very extensive and delicious. It left nothing to be desired. While the reception staff lacked friendliness, the breakfast room more than made up for it. You have the option of having breakfast outside in the courtyard. Be prepared for ants, which you MIGHT find on the garden furniture. This buffet is worth the money.
We didn't use the spa. I didn't see the point in paying an entrance fee. I could have spent my money much better elsewhere.
The building itself is truly beautiful and something special. The style is stunning. The location is absolutely perfect. You can reach everything on foot and theoretically don't need a car.
Parking in front of the building costs €25 per day. Since there's really a lack of space, you're directed to a parking garage for €16 per day. This is about a 5-minute walk away. We parked more cheaply behind the building. It's definitely possible to find paid parking. If we ever visit Wiesbaden again, we'll probably look for one of the other accommodations in the area.
