My girlfriend and I spent two nights at the Bastya Hotel. I am writing this review in the hope that the hotel staff will be able to reflect on their mistakes, which unfortunately were too many, by receiving useful information/feedback. I would like to state at the beginning that we basically had a good time during our stay. Our room was small but nice. There were problems with cleanliness. The curtain/blackout was full of bug remains so it was stained, and the wall behind the curtain was also a bit dirty. The wellness area was quite large, with several swimming pools, saunas and jacuzzis. We had no complaints about these. The breakfast and dinner were impeccable. The waiting staff were also professional. Unfortunately, this cannot be said about the reception. I have been working as a receptionist in both 4 and 5 star hotels for several years, but what some members of the reception produced was only 3 stars at most. As a hospitality worker, I am aware that 12-hour shifts are long, guests can be tiring, and the work is monotonous. But regardless of all this, basic kindness, attention, and professionalism are expected and even mandatory. To be specific, we do not put the guest down, we look them in the eye when we talk to them, we stand up when the guest gets tired of going to the reception (this did not happen once to 4-5 members of the staff during these three days), we provide basic and additional information so that the guest does not have to ask for things. Obviously, all this is not done in a condescending, bored tone, or with an expression that clearly shows that we do not want the guest even in the middle of the back. To get into professional matters, perhaps you should discuss with the guest at check-in what they will get for their money, regardless of whether the guest is aware of it, and not just say "room 108, here is the key card". Speaking of key cards, I would note the small thing that the "key card holder" was a piece of paper folded in half, which also looked bad aesthetically, with the written letters, the name and room number scribbled on it. An actual card holder with printed information would be more elegant. If the guest comes down for a cocktail and sits at the bar, it would be worth going up to the guest, bringing a drink menu, and asking what they would like to drink, rather than waiting until they get tired of going to the receptionist to see if anyone else will come. And the answer shouldn't be "well, I'm here now anyway". Then, if the guest sits back down at the bar with the drink list, it would be worth checking after a few minutes to see if they made a choice. Not waiting for the unfortunate person to go to the reception a second time. The cocktail was delicious, although it was a bit strange that from 6 pm to 9 pm no one could take the empty glasses off the bar table. And when checking out, it is essential to ask how they felt, did they find everything okay? Of course, this did not happen, they just told us the amount we had to pay, and then "goodbye". I list all of this because it can be easily changed. It would be the job of a leader, manager, director to hold their employees to account professionally, it would be worth dedicating a few days to professional training. The other solution is to go to work at the corner ABC or the national tobacco shop, there this kind of "professionalism" will not be a problem. Otherwise, the location, the surroundings and the programs were very good, we would definitely go back in the future if the staff's preparedness reached 4 stars.
