Calton Hill

Calton Hill has been Edinburgh's best-known outdoor gay cruising ground for the best part of a century — police were already noting its after-dark reputation in the 1920s. The action centres on the wooded slopes reached by the steps off Regent Terrace, busiest late at night and at weekends. It is an atmospheric, historic spot with sweeping views over the city by day, but the usual outdoor-cruising caution applies: keep your wits about you, especially after dark.
