Ka Pao Edinburgh

Had an amazing meal here. Booked in advance because Edinburgh was busy. Staff were super friendly and offered advise and recommendations based upon my wife’s Gluten intolerance. Food was served promptly and the flavours were outstanding.

The food was excellent. There were seven of us for dinner, so we had the opportunity to try many dishes on the menu, all delicious. The service was impeccable; the waiters were kind, courteous, and always attentive. The wine selection could be improved. A must!

Absolutely delicious food from start to Finish and the Koko Kwai Cocktail was just heavenly. ❤️

Overrated and over-spiced. We came to Ka Pao with high expectations given how frequently it gets recommended, but our meal was a genuine disappointment that felt significantly over-spiced. While a lot of effort clearly went into presentation and creative concept design, the execution on flavor consistently falls flat due to an overly heavy hand with spice. The mushroom starter arrived buried under a thick crust of seasoning, while the pork laab was so aggressively covered in chilly pepper that it scorched our taste buds and ruined our palates for the rest of the evening. That same lack of balance ruined the remaining dishes, from the cucumber salad to various fish courses, where harsh heat overpowered the core ingredients rather than complementing them. Ka Pao certainly looks the part, but without balanced, enjoyable flavors, the creativity loses its appeal and simply fails to justify the hype.

Delicious food and excellent service, as always. This is a real haven, just steps from Waverley, in busy Edinburgh.

Ka Pao is my favourite 🤩 restaurant in Edinburgh. Being of Indonesian descent, I’m so glad to have found a fusion menu tinged with the nostalgic flavours of my grandma’s cooking. Having Ka Pao’s comfort food always feels like going back in time for me. We love taking our guests to this restaurant, and everyone always enjoys the experience. It’s been at least three years since we became regular patrons. There has never been a single time that we’ve felt less than satisfied. Thank you for all the wonderful memories. All the staff at Ka Pao are amazingly professional. Please know that you really do bring joy to people’s lives. Be proud! ❤️
