The Swan Hotel, Staines

I attended a wedding reception at this pub recently and, unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. While the venue itself had potential, several aspects of the event fell short of expectations. The food appeared stale and lacked freshness, which was particularly disappointing for such a special occasion. In addition, some members of the staff came across as rude and unhelpful, making guests feel unwelcome rather than valued. The venue also seemed understaffed, resulting in slow service and long waits throughout the event. Furthermore, the overall organization of the wedding was poor, with noticeable coordination issues that affected the flow of the day. Cleanliness was also a concern. Certain areas of the venue appeared dirty and not properly maintained throughout the event. Most concerning was an incident involving a child, while climbing up the back stairs into the venue was cut by broken glass which was on the stairs area. This raised serious concerns about safety and attention to detail, particularly at an event where families and children were present. Weddings are important occasions, and guests naturally expect a certain standard of service, cleanliness, and hospitality. Sadly, this event did not meet those expectations. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements for future events.

Lovely location for drinks in the sun however let down by miserable staff and an erratic team. Prices are high compared to other places in the area that have better standards, but once you manage to get away from the chaos and to the water front, it becomes slightly worth it.

Came here for drinks on a Saturday afternoon. It was just what we were looking for.

This used to be the local's favourite but not any more. The staff are miserable and unfriendly and the outside is no longer well-maintained. In addition, the beer prices are through the roof. A friend suggested we went over the road to the Last Hop and, wow, what a difference - friendly, welcoming staff and the same beer was nearly £3 less a pint. We definitely won't be going back to The Swan any time soon.

Really decent Fuller's pub on the Thames. On a hot summer's day it's hard to beat

Wow not even sure where to start, we stayed at the swan prior to our wedding on the Friday night which was 5 mins down the road in Egham. Firstly as a stressed bride at my whits end at that point of course I booked the wrong night… 😭 luckily Judy ready my booking note where I mentioned about our wedding on Friday and thank god she reached out to me to say about me booking the wrong day by accident luckily she was great and I changed it to the Thursday no problem. When me and my now husband arrived at the venue we were really happy with how lovely it was (looks better in person than pictures even though it was nice on those) we were greeted by a lovely big smile from Judy, an upgraded room and a bottle of wine and 2 mini bottles of prosecco - our new room was a gorgeous river view with a small balcony. I couldn’t recommend this hotel more, Thankyou for the best start to marriage we could have we will be back. Also to note I’m not sure of the name of the potential owner on reception aswell who showed us to our room (medium height brown hair and glasses smiley) but he was absolutely lovely.
