I always go there; it's close to the subway, the place is comfortable and spacious, there are always lots of nice people, and you can meet people from different places.
For being the cheapest with private rooms, it's okay. The place is very old but acceptable, right in the center so it's crazy crowded.
For the price, it's a good option. Aside from that, it feels like you're in a hostel in Brazil; all the activities are geared towards Brazilian guests, who make up the majority of the hostel's clientele, but that doesn't mean there aren't other guests. The bathroom should be cleaned twice a day (it's only done once). The towels they rent are like paper; they don't dry you. The place is nice, but the floors are very noisy, making it impossible to sleep past 7:30 am, even if you're a heavy sleeper. The location isn't as good as I expected; it's not very nice at night. They hire people who aren't properly trained. A new guy decided to close the kitchen 20 minutes early and wouldn't let me eat until I cleaned my plate because he wanted to clean and close the kitchen well before the scheduled time. The rest of the staff is friendly and helpful.
