We visited Osaka on the recommendation of some friends. The food is delicious, it's really worth it. As I've seen in other reviews, they continue this practice with no response other than a generic message to contact them via email, so here's what happened: The waiter brought the bill, which in our case showed 535 soles with the RC (Real Estate Transfer) and tax sections blank. The waiter asked, "Tip in cash or by card?" We said cash. We left the tip in cash, and on the receipt they brought back (the one in the photo), it showed that the tip was already included in the price. I think they should be transparent; these actions spoil the experience. The tip was included in the price, and we paid double? Why aren't they explicit and replace the receipts? The food deserves five stars, but these unexplained actions in a restaurant of this caliber deserve only one. Conclusion: a happy stomach, but a feeling of being ripped off.
The place is spectacular. The food is incredible, and its fame is well-deserved. But be aware, the tip (RC) is already included on the receipt, even though it appears in blank. They ask if you want to tip in cash or by card, and they take your first receipt and give you another one with the same price itemized (taxes and surcharge). We paid the tip (double) in cash.
We got to the place and the menu is not friendly, also the service has been horrible, we started with one waiter and he disappeared and left us more than 30 minutes just watching dishes pass by and we were never helped until another showed up. The prices are marked up and the taste is similar to any sushi place that you might get in a little no place hall in the wall. Since I’m just a turist, I know this will not affect them but I would never come back even if they pay me to come.
I went for lunch and it was truly one of the best experiences of my life. I've never been a big sushi fan, but this is on another level. Roberto, the waiter, was wonderful, very attentive at all times, even substituting the prawns (due to an allergy) with something else that would pair well. The nigiri were amazing! Especially the foie gras ones. The only downside was the price. If you're alone, they reduce the portion sizes so you can try more things, but not by the same amount as the price reduction. I ended up spending around 400-500 soles.
The place is very empty and they refuse to sit us inside or a proper table. They offer us to sit in the bar for a late lunch on Sunday afternoon. Not the service I would expect for an upscale restaurant.
We went with a reservation as soon as it opened at 12:30. The place is really beautiful, with excellent aesthetics. The interior is that of a nighttime restaurant, but the internal garden helps to mask that. The service and attention to detail are top-notch: a moist towel before the meal, constant service, attentive staff, and they change the plates and glasses regularly. Food: Tiradito - Carpassion - the sweet sauce is too overpowering, like jam, and doesn't allow you to fully appreciate the salmon. Nigiris - Veggie Brasa (I don't recommend it; it has no protein and no special flavor). Ebi Mentaiko - 4/5 Hotate Truffle 5/5 Yimura Handrolls 5/5 and Salmon Sp 5/5, both with their special sauce, and you assemble them yourself 😉. Makis - Nikkei Maki 4/5 Crispy Quinoa 3/5 - the flavor didn't blow me away; I think I'd prioritize something else. Nori Furai 5/5. The Nikkei experience is excellent and I highly recommend it; it should be in the top 3 in Lima for price and quality.
