Without a doubt, one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at anywhere.

An outstanding hotel and a great base to visit Machu Picchu from. Make sure you add an extra day to enjoy the facilities of this amazing hotel. The two restaurants were wonderful and the breakfast excellent. Staff were friendly and attentive. Our casita/villa was superbly appointed with everything you’d need. I highly recommend this hotel.

Spent two glorious nights at this hotel with my family. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The staff was terrifically accommodating and the restaurant provided a couple of lovely meals. Used it as a jumping off point for archeological visits.

One of the best hotels in the world :) The location, the service, the villas, the cuisine, and the foundation… What passion went into this! We were there as a family, and the fact that there are two restaurants is perfect. We even took the time to see the horse show at 1:00 PM – very enjoyable. We had a villa with two huge connecting suites, each with its own terrace and living space. Every evening, we were treated to hot water bottles and asked for our fireplaces to be prepared. In short, it's wonderful to spend time in this oasis, ideally located in the Sacred Valley. I recommend it 150%.

Disappointing hotel despite the beautiful setting. The rooms are stylish but sparse e.g. no kettle and no glasses provided for the water. You cannot sit comfortably up in bed as there's no headboard just a shelf behind the pillows. The prices are ridiculously high for everything. A single glass of wine is almost 20 usd. The gym is very small and the sauna temp is very low (47 C!). The breakfast is tasty and the restaurant manager is very personable. But overall this hotel is not good value for money at all and I would not recommend it.

Really great hotel but my custom tailored jacket was stolen out of my room and the hotel never took responsibility… outrageous - don’t leave anything in the room!! Who knows where it will end up!!

Good property but beware - food poisoning appears common here. Unfortunately, we found out the tough way and it ruined our trip including plans for macchu picchu. It’s the first relais chateaux property we have had this experience and would be careful with their recommendations going forward. Worst of all, service next day didn’t seem to care. They seem to think refunds of the dinner is all they need to do. I wish we had read reviews before. TripAdvisor, Reddit, Google all have more of this. Not worth rolling the dice.

We have just had two night stay at Sol y Luna. It was going to be the highlight of our trip. However, on the first night, my husband and I ordered the same thing at dinner, and nine hours later we both had horrible food poisoning. We let the manager know so he could stop feeding that food to other guests but he kept insisting that it must be altitude sickness. We have been in Peru for two weeks now (at high altitudes) and we have not had any problems with altitude sickness. This was also the only food that my husband and I both ate (we had different food to each other before this). We can’t comment on the hotel because we had to spend the whole day in our room, but the manager was really rude to us. He even said that it wasn’t possible to get food poisoning within 24 hours of eating. Aside from this, the restaurants both felt very dead. We were the only ones eating and so felt that we had to keep hushed voices. The other staff were very friendly though- like every other Peruvian we have been lucky to meet in our two weeks here.

Top hotel, I would definitely choose it again! Excellent service from start to finish. Delicious food, outstanding breakfast service (à la carte). Very peaceful atmosphere! Great pool, beautiful gardens, extremely well-maintained. We had a Casita, the lowest category. It was fantastic, a very large room and bathroom with shower, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion. A hot water bottle was provided in the evening. A great hotel to enjoy a day by the pool. We can definitely recommend this hotel!
