Playa Chihuahua Dunes (cruising)

The dunes and pine trails behind Playa Chihuahua's naturist sector are a long-standing, informal gay cruising area. Activity is seasonal and concentrated on summer weekday afternoons, picking up after about 6pm; weekends tend to draw a more mixed crowd. Uruguay is among the world's most LGBTQ-friendly countries and naturism here is legal, but cruising itself remains informal and discreet. Common-sense safety applies: it is best enjoyed in daylight and busier periods, and guides advise against going alone into the wooded areas after dark. Grindr and similar apps are widely used to arrange meetups in the area.
