Hotel is great, service is awesome. One small issue the A/C controls have motion sensors built in once you sleep they detect no presence and stop cooling. This is horrible experience. I would not stay there again.

JW IN CHARLOTTE IS AWESOME, MARIA AND TAMEKA IS EXCELLENT IN THE EXECUITIVE LOUNGE, THEY MADE SURE EVERYTHING WAS CLEAN AND RESTOCK . THANKS TO THEM I WILL RETURN NEXT YEAR.

The location in the city is good, not hard to get to and in the middle of major attractions. Took me fifteen minutes from the airport, though it was 0100, I’m sure it’s much longer during the day. Check in was interesting. the valet is 24 hours a day in theory. I waited twenty minutes and eventually went into the hotel and asked, they called him and he eventually came to the valet desk. Nobody was there to help with bags, I had five cases. I don’t mind doing my own bags, but if you are going to tell me you’re a full service hotel, and you’re going to charge full service rates, then a little help with bags seems like a basic thing. I asked the front desk if someone could help with bags and he said ‘Somewhere, yeah’. If you are too busy, that’s OK, tell me, I’ll do it myself, just don’t pretend to offer a service and then not provide it. It’s a nice hotel at first glances, rooms are a decent size, good quality beds - I slept well, though the pillows are all soft, all four of them. So if you like firm, call down and ask for different pillows, just don’t expect them quickly. I called down for toothpaste and it took forty minutes to get them. had I know, I would have just gone down to get them myself, except you can’t, they don’t have them at the front desk. Showers - nice size, no water pressure at all, it was awful. Not as bad as the cold water, there was NO hot water, at all, just cold water. That’ll wake you up. Toiletries provided were: face wipes, and mouthwash. nothing else. The morning was interesting. Coffee is espresso with a barista, good coffee. Whilst waiting for my coffee I had time to look at the bourbon and whiskey collection. Really impressive, some obscure ones and some really good ones. I wish I had been there for an evening, the F&B manager clearly has a good eye for whiskey. The pastries on offer are varied and excellent, they were fresh baked, tasty and reasonably priced, and like I said, good coffee downstairs. Upstairs, not so much, Nespresso in your room, so, not coffee, just a poor excuse for it, but the espresso downstairs, very good. I didn’t have breakfast beyond the croissant and pastries for the road, and, as I said, they were very good. Departure was poor, really poor. I went to the front desk and asked for help with my five bags. They said someone would be up ‘soon’. Given my previous experience I asked how long it would be so I could manage my expectations. The lady said 5 minutes”max”. I sat in the room for thirty five minutes, nobody came. I made two trips to the car in the end. Cleaners did walk in without knocking though, that was unexpected. Luckily, I was just doing emails. Valet experience on departure was good. It is all through your phone, they won’t take your vehicle otherwise (I don’t like that though, just one more ‘you subscribed but didn’t have a choice texts to delete constantly). I clicked ‘Get me my car’, and it arrived fifteen minutes later. Good service. It didn’t have water in it, which seems strange for $50 a night, water in the car is the base level for a ‘5 star’ hotel. You can tip through the app but the valet will tell you they often don’t get it, so I tipped cash as well. No issues with that, disappointing to hear the staff ‘often don’t get those tips’. Would I stay here again? No. I like hot water in my showers, help with bags, and responsive staff. This isn’t that hotel. It’s a hotel that trades on the brand reputation, not on its own delivery, at least, that was my experience last night and this morning. For $500+ inc. tax, I expect much better, this was extremely poor service for the most part and I will not return. there is a Westin opposite, I’ll try them next week.
