My wife & I stayed at the Hilton in Short Pump for 5 nights at the beginning of June. I wish I could give it a higher rating because the building itself is very nice, the in-house restaurant (Shula's Steakhouse) was great (shout out to the bartenders Andy & Ally) & the hotel staff in general were very nice. That all being said, the hotel's air conditioning is awful. We had to move rooms on day #2 because the air conditioning in our original room quit working altogether & it barely kept up in the room we were moved to for the remainder of our stay. When I set the thermostat for 65, I expect the room to be 65 after an hour, not 75. This in turn led to not one good night of sleep, even with a box fan set directly under the one small in-wall AC vent in the room. I should think a company like Hilton would invest in a proper industrial AC system in a part of the country where it's 90 degrees and humid for the better part of 4 months of the year.
This is our favorite place to stay every time we’re in town.
I stayed at Hilton Richmond for 3 nights and 4 days. The check-in experience was smooth, and the front desk staff were friendly and efficient. Unfortunately, around 10:00 PM, a loud and unusual noise started in or near my room. The noise continued for hours and made it impossible to get any meaningful sleep. I contacted the front desk, but I was told that the hotel was completely booked and no alternative room was available. What was disappointing was that there appeared to be little effort to explore other solutions or offer any accommodations for the inconvenience. By around 1:00 AM, after several hours of dealing with the noise and being unable to sleep, I requested to be moved to a different hotel. The hotel eventually arranged for me to stay at Hilton Home2 Suites. I was specifically told that the rate at Home2 Suites would match the price of my original Hilton Richmond reservation. However, I later found that I was charged more than my original booking rate. While I appreciate that the staff ultimately helped relocate me, the overall experience was frustrating. The noise issue severely impacted my stay, and the unexpected higher charge at the replacement hotel only added to the disappointment. I hope management reviews both the handling of guest concerns and the billing process to ensure future guests do not have a similar experience.
Picture it. It was Mother's Day weekend. You pay a good amount for mediocre accommodations. Looks aren't everything when foundation isn't making sense. You pay $10 a day for parking in a regular lot (not a garage) which I was not aware. You pay for basic breakfast $10 daily (even cereal and milk). Go to IHOP or Cracker Barrel you will enjoy the food and atmosphere better more than likely and it will be the same price. You also pay for Wi-Fi daily. Sooooo what are spending all that money on when it comes to your stay? Oh I know the mold around the shower handle in the bathroom. Filled out their survey after the stay and you think they would reach out. Disappointing experience to say the least.
