It was amazing

Possibly the wost hotel stay of my life. I stayed here for a convention in a group of four people with 2 rooms. This is really more of a motel than a hotel- rooms are extremely cramped, there is no lobby or even anywhere to sit and wait for an uber without paying extra, they don't offer any water besides what comes out of the bathroom sink unless you pay $4 at the vending machine (which is more expensive than the soda). Parking is a nightmare and they provided no help on check-in, despite listing parking as an ammenity on their website, leaving us to fend for ourselves and ultimately end up inadvertently parking in a garage with limited hours, locking us out of our vehicles (555 Ocean Ave.). The rooms have clear wear and tear and appear clean so long as you don't look under anything. A drink can rolled out of the fridge and underneath because the shelves are too short and the door does not have a proper shelf, and it was covered in hair and dust. The beds are so firm that a floor with carpet is probably softer and more comfortable. Every day we woke up sore and stiff. Thankfully we weren't on the second floor as there is no elevator and you have to walk to the back of the hotel to access the staircase. The worst part of this hotel was the nosy and inconsiderate staff. Despite booking 2 rooms together in one transaction, we ended up with rooms literally on opposite sides of the hotel from each other. When we were standing outside waiting for an uber, the manager felt the need to ask us what the problem was as though we were loitering, when, again, there is no lobby or anywhere to sit or stand inside the hotel aside from your room without paying extra. When we asked that night for an extra blanket, we were told they apparently only have exactly enough for every room in the hotel so there are no spares. This turned out to be a lie in the most ridiculous way possible, as hotel staff wound up pounding on our door several hours later at midnight, while we were asleep, to say there was a misunderstanding and offer us a blanket. The next day, when all of us went to one room to drop off supplies from the convention we were working, the manager felt compelled to follow us to the room to knock on the door and tell us only 2 people can stay in one room. This was at only 6 p.m. and they relented when we told them we had 2 rooms booked. The hotel is cheaper than many of the bigger name hotels nearby, and it's very apparent why, however I can't understand why it's more expensive than many of the cheaper options. I have genuinely had better experiences at budget motels than here; at least they offer a bottle of water and let me stay there in peace.

This was a wonderful place to stay. It’s very cheap in price but the rooms are decorated very nicely. It’s quiet and discreet. The staff was very helpful. I gave 4 stars only because of the parking. You will need to pay $20 for a parking pass to park at the Marriott Courtyard a block away. The hotel is about a 10-15min walk to restaurants and bars. I highly recommend staying here and I will be coming back on my next visit to Long Beach….
