Burrus House Inn Waterfront Suites

Our stay at Burrus House Inn was exceptional from start to finish. The inn is beautifully maintained, welcoming, and full of charm, making it one of the most enjoyable places we've ever stayed. Each suite faces the sound and those breathtaking views of Shallowbag Bay can be enjoyed from your private deck. The suites are large and beautifully decorated with a sophisticated and chic coastal theme. Pure elegance! The Inn is close to downtown Manteo and just a short drive to the beach. We started our day with a satisfying continental breakfast which included coffee, juice, pastries, yogurt and oatmeal. Wine and cheese are offered each afternoon at 4:00. While we didn’t take advantage of the bikes or kayaks, they are available on site for guests. The mattress was one of the most comfortable we’ve ever slept on and the linens were crisp and smelled incredible. Our kitchenette had a refrigerator, microwave and was stocked with utensils and dishes. If you’re looking for recommendations of things to do, see or where to dine, Donnamae and Vicki are a wealth of information. I can’t say enough about how special they are! They go out of their way to accommodate guests and make every aspect of the stay special. We registered as guests and left as family!

Absolutely amazing place! We celebrated our 15 year anniversary here, tried the Bungalow experience and loved it!. Vicky was super welcoming and provided great recommendations for food. I love the boat dock access too!. Highly recommended.

What a wonderful Inn, we loved everything about our stay. Extremely clean, quiet, and comfortable, and the staff made us feel so very comfortable. This is a perfect location for a carefree get-away!

Room 201 Mary Carolyn Great check in experience! Vicky treated us like royalty. Explained all that was near and several restaurants. Our room was magnificent. 2 balconies- 1 totally private. Spotlessly Clean. Good quality bed linens. Comfy bed. This sounds weird but the sheets were noisy:) But so very comfy! Bathroom well stocked and very clean. Inn is very quiet. Room gets plenty dark at beftime. But remember this isn't a hotel, so the quiet depends on if your neighbors are courteous. There is a Luggage elevator only, the rest is all stairs. Be prepared for stairs. Parking is free and at will. Small living room is very nice. Couch is very comfortable! 2 very nice TVs. Small kitchenette has plenty of basics. Housekeeping Crew were outstanding. Very nice and helpful. Breakfast was minimal: Local shop brings in a crescent roll ham and cheese omelet and a few pastries. Coffee, OJ. Yogurt. Microwave oatmeal. Few fresh fruits. The crescent was tasy. Clean lean and well set up. I'm being totally picky here: the area where the luggage elevator is marked with red wording but it's hard to see. Maybe a yellow color would be better. We were tired from driving and did not notice the dark red wording. Just my opinion and this is so minimal. This Inn is one of our favorites from our USA vacations!!!

We stayed at the Burrus House Inn during our first trip to the Outer Banks on the week after Labor Day. The Inn was perfect for our tastes and needs, and the staff (DonnaMay and Vickie) were great to chat with and advised us about all of the best places to see and eat. The room we had on the first raised level was a two-room suite with a pure Outer Banks upscale relaxing feel, and we made good use of the adirondack chairs just outside our front door. Breakfast each morning consisted of pastries (we loved the egg and bacon croissants, and the veggie strudel), coffee, yogurt, chilled fruit and orange juice. Breakfasts and the afternoon wine and cheese were also a good time to meet and chat with the other guests too -- who were all very personable. We booked the paddle boards and kayaks, but we never used them because there was too much else to do during our 4-night trip, so the Inn issued us a refund. The main attractions in this part of the Outer Banks are only minutes away by car: The Roanoke Festival Park, the Nature Sanctuary (where our fellow guests saw 6 bears during their hike), the Jennette Pier and beach area, and one of the best places to have lunch, O'Neil's. We sure hope we have an opportunity to visit again soon and if we do, we'll stay again at the Burrus House Inn. Thank you for your hospitality!

Our comfort was this Inn’s paramount concern and they couldn’t have delivered a better stay experience! We hope to return to The Burrus for a longer stay in the near future.

We had an amazing experience at Burrus House Inn. We stayed in a two bedroom with family. The views were spectacular, The beds very comfortable. We loved meeting other guests in the common area for breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese. The town of Manteo is so quant and just a short drive to Carolla and Duck on the outer banks. Very relaxing stay.

Easy access to & Great views of the Outer Banks from Manteo. We enjoyed breezes everyday from our balcony. And just a few minutes from being on the beaches; as proven by our sunburn.

We stopped there for 2 nights during our roadtrip! Great place to also see more of Outer Banks!
