A very nice, quiet, and clean hotel with lovely staff in a perfect location! The check-in and check-out process were straightforward, and I was able to leave my bag with the staff before and after my stay so I could explore the city without it. My room was on the second floor and overlooked the street, and I didn't have any trouble with the sound. Everything was clean and well-kept. And the staff were so friendly and helpful, greeting me each time I came and left. You can't get much better than this for a budget-friendly price. I'm very glad I stayed here for my first time in the city, and I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!
This is a find for budget conscious travelers. Best of all, the location is 5*. The movie themed hotel is an older building but quite nice, the rooms are clean and quiet (mine overlooked the back patio). The amenities are great (well appointed kitchen in the downstairs common area, cafe-style furniture in the back patio, AC and fan in the rooms, good quality towels and sheets) and the staff attentive. The only unusual feature is the lack of elevator and steep stair cases but the staff will offer to carry your luggage up for you. Overall, I recommend this place for its “budget” price, charm and spectacular location. Not luxurious but well appointed.
I had a bad experience with the hotel since my medication on the refrigerator got stolen
If your on a budget this place is worth it for sure. Here are the pros. Great location very close to the village and everything you want in Manhattan. The check in process and checkout out process is very organized and the staff are all friendly and great. The shower surprised me in how nice it was. A better shower here than I have had at much more expensive hotels in NYC. The room was also very clean and enough space for what you need. The cons: the noise the first night was pretty loud, it could have just been because the people above us were being rude and rowdy at 2-4am but it was difficult to sleep with that. The second night it was quiet. It was also very hot in the room, we had to bring out the fan at night. Also the bed is pretty small but we made it work. For what you are paying set your expectations reasonably and you can make this boutique hotel work great!
Great place for a solo traveler who just needs a small place with a private bathroom! The dormitory style room was cozy and clean and the bathroom was actually larger than some in much pricier NY hotels. The single bed and pillows were perfect and the house staff was friendly. Cute courtyard in the back and a kitchen that is shared. Only cons: there is no elevator and you do hear some street sounds (welcome to NY!) and the room was nothing fancy. Biggest pros are the Chelsea location (market and Whitney nearby) and the very close access to the subway and 14th Ave bus. Zipping around town was a breeze.
