We stayed at Embassy Suites by Hilton Pittsburgh Downtown for three nights while visiting PNC Park. The location is fantastic, with many attractions within walking distance, and the historic building is beautiful. The suites are spacious, and the views from the upper floors are a nice bonus. Unfortunately, the room itself was underwhelming. Our accessible suite had a handheld shower that didn't work properly, one bedside reading light was missing, and the drapery rods were bent, making the curtains difficult to open. The hallway near the ice and vending area had a strong unpleasant odor that sometimes drifted into our room, and even the nearby restroom had the same smell. Overall, it wasn't a bad stay, but it didn't live up to what I expect from an Embassy Suites. With better maintenance and attention to room details, this could be an excellent hotel because the location is hard to beat.
Room will not get below 85 degrees and they say they don't have any other room to move us to. This is a suite and was very expensive and our vacation is now just us in a humid hot box. Haven't been able to sleep because it's so uncomfortable. It also smells bad. Would not stay in this hotel again. EDIT: after 2 nights in the room we were finally changed to another room. It was very inconvenient to have to repack everything and unpack again but this room is much better, AC works, and more updated. It is unfortunate we had to endure such a hot room for so long, I think we were just given a really bad room. Hoping to have no other issues and did appreciate that it was finally changed. I do feel that we should get something like a credit for all of our trouble but haven't been offered anything yet.
The hotel is very beautiful and very well located. However, the service leaves something to be desired.
Great room only problem the bathroom door would not close once I finally was able to reach the manager he made a 45 dollar adjustment to our bill which took care of the parking charge for my car.
The bar on the 25th floor is small and cozy, you can see the stadium from the window across the bar. Good for having a beer, not good for food. They stop serving at 9:30pm, so if you are hungry late you might need to go somewhere else. The room are very nice, great views and elegant decoration.
Rooms look decent and spacious, but we had at least three issues- including a TV not working, shower leaking water all over the bathroom and lack of towels. A few elevators weren't working so that was an inconvenience given the hotel is at the top of the building. Several things look worn out and dated like the carpet and fixtures. Front desk staff seemed tired and uninterested in being here. Bar / restaurant closed around 9:30pm. Feels like the place is barely holding on and will be closed in a year. On the plus side - the made-to-eat omelets included in your stay were delicious. Breakfast was a plus in general, as was the downtown location, but there are a lot of hotels in Pittsburgh.
