Gifford House Inn

Did not honor my confirmed booking when I arrived at the hotel (despite a confirmed message from the staff 6 days prior our arrival). Proposed a solution which double the original cost. Booked last September and never been informed that the hotel was under heavy renovation. Had to look for another hotel at the last minute. Lost more than 2 hours with this issue. Only positive point, they reimbursed my 50% payment. CHECK ON TRIP ADVISOR COMMENTS: I was not the only one to be treated like that.

I had an absolutely terrible experience with Gifford House in Provincetown. I booked three separate stays for this summer over six months ago specifically to secure good rates, and all of my reservations were confirmed and paid. Now, right before the busy season starts — when hotels everywhere are either fully booked or outrageously expensive — the hotel suddenly decided to cancel all of my bookings claiming they “made a mistake” with the rates they posted. Their solution? Either accept the cancellations or pay more than double the original rate. Completely unacceptable. What makes this even worse is the timing. They waited until prices everywhere else skyrocketed, leaving me with very limited and extremely expensive alternatives. This feels incredibly dishonest and unprofessional. On top of everything, I had to call multiple times just to get my refund processed. Nobody seemed to care, and there was zero accountability or effort to make the situation right. Very disappointing customer service and extremely poor business practice. I would strongly caution anyone before booking here.

Stayed here with my wife back in 2024. We were initially wowed by our experience, though the chandelier was a tad bit tacky. We though the interior designs of the room we occupied was tasteful, but the staff was, for lack of a better word, salty like like the underwhelming stuffed clams all of the locals seem to go on ad nauseum about. I don't mean to throw shade, but Harbor hotel was a far better experience for us as newlyweds from South Africa. I hope that you learn to be a little more inclusive and culturally adaptable in the manner in which you conduct hospitality in the future. Cheers and peace be with you, friends.

One of the solid great bars in Ptown. Nice bar with multiple area to stand, sit, walk around and chat/people watch. Has two bar areas and usually full with friendly patrons. Often has live music and sometimes themed parties downstairs. One of my regular bars when I come to Ptown!

We have never felt so welcomed, staying at Gifford house is like being welcomed into a family. Bianca, Kevin, Ken and Steve are amazing

Such an amazing stay thanks to Jay. Our week was filled with fun and lifted expectations after speaking with Jay about what Provincetown had to offer. My group was not sure if we’d visit again but thanks to his insightful recommendations, we found many events to keep us overly entertained. This was my first time staying at The Gifford Inn, and it was absolutely amazing! The staff and manager were outstanding—super friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish. On-site parking was available. My room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable, featuring excellent air conditioning, a great TV, and a comfy bed. The hotel lobby is cozy, making it the perfect spot for relaxing during the day. The property boasts several bars, including a fantastic lobby piano bar, which all contribute to its lively, social atmosphere. Club Purgatory, my favorite, located on-site, was particularly fun, featuring great energy and an unforgettable Provincetown vibe. The inn combines comfort and excitement—peaceful for unwinding, and steps away from Commercial Street. I had the best time and will definitely return on my next visit to Provincetown. Highly recommend The Gifford Inn to anyone seeking friendly service, fun nightlife, and a welcoming place to stay!

Great place for straight weddings

I was SO pleasantly surprised by how nice Gifford House is during my recent stay in September 2025. My room and the common areas were kept immaculately clean yet still retained the historical charm of the building, the staff friendly, and the drinks excellent, especially the caipirinhas! I especially loved the live music happening each evening. I’ll definitely be returning to stay.

Great hospitality and a super unique place to stay in Ptown. Centrally located and great that there’s parking. Rooms are smaller but comfortable. Certainly not a quiet secluded hotel stay, but the vibes and programming are part of the charm. I expect Gifford House will be a Ptown fixture for many years to come.

First time in Ptown. Stayed here on a recommendation from a friend. Perfectly located and we were able to snag a parking spot. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable and plush. Would absolutely recommend, and we will be back.
