Baan Thai
Visitors often praise Baan Thai for its friendly service and flavorful dishes, with some highlighting specific items like the coconut chicken soup and shrimp fried rice. However, a common complaint is that portion sizes can be small for the price, and some reviewers found the food to be overly sweet or not traditionally Thai.

I go here regularly and the food is always great. Service is friendly and knowledgeable.
More like Thais fusion not typical Thai food. Food is ok , small portion. Vibes are good.
Curry beef tastes like wax. It must be really old stuff. I won’t go back.
Food is clearly premade, comes out in 2 minutes. The restaurant's only redeeming quality is that the food is spicy enough so you can't tell how bad the taste is. Bad is an understatement.
The food was good and really fast. Service great. The food tasted good. Lots of veggie options. For the price I would expect a little bit more quantity and quality but nothing to complain about.
Nice place for a meal or a drink in central DC. I had the spicy lemongrass chicken and it was very flavorful, but I do wish it was spicier. I’m unsure of how traditional the dishes are but if you like sticky rice and good cocktail, this is your place.
Food and portion size are not bad but be forewarned: the green-haired young maître d’ with the nose ring up front is incredibly rude. She seems to think being rude to arriving guests is her main job. She’s indifferent, talks down to you, is not helpful at all, and gives the impression she’s either “unfireable” (owner’s relative?) or just annoyed she has to work. Not sure why the restaurant keeps her up front to ruin guests’ first impressions but I almost turned around and left after interacting with her. There have got up be better people to put up front
