Port d’Hiver Bed and Breakfast is truly stunning!! Between the views and a cute beach town, you can’t beat a vacation here! However, the assistant manager at Port d'Hiver is a textbook liability and a detriment to this establishment. Her continued employment is actively costing this business money, damaging its reputation, and destroying staff morale in several distinct ways: - On multiple occasions, this manager has flushed heavy duty napkins. This sheer negligence has caused severe plumbing emergencies. By flushing heavy-duty napkins down the toilets. - She has randomly deleted active guest reservations from the system. Because of this, paying guests arrive with nowhere to stay and absolutely no paper trail or evidence of a cancellation, creating a front-desk nightmare and permanently ruining the business's credibility. - She actively steals company supplies from the property. - Beyond her operational failures, she is consistently unhelpful, openly disrespectful, and hostile to nearly every member of the staff she works with. Someone in the position she’s in, should have more hospitality and face. Unfortunately, she continuously refuses to go above and beyond for the guests that stay at this property. Retaining her on the payroll is a massive financial and structural mistake. She needs to be terminated immediately. Everything else about my stay was wonderful.
Hidden gem in the middle of the city- makes you feel like you’re on vacation far away! The bed and breakfast is gorgeous and secluded, the room we stayed in was clean and beautiful with a spectacular view of the beach. There are small personal touches throughout the stay that elevate the whole experience, such as a personalized welcome card, homemade cookies and the excellent customer service. The included breakfast was delicious, with muffins and fresh fruit and a sweet or savory option for your main dish (or a sampler that includes both!). Truly every aspect was great- zero negatives or downsides.
Wow! It’s not often our expectations are surpassed when it comes to accommodations, but Port D’hiver sure did! From the staff, to our room, to the grounds and offerings, there wasn’t one thing missing. All the staff are super friendly and willing to help with anything you need. The accommodations were better than expected, offering exactly what was described but felt super elevated. The grounds were so beautiful, we felt like we were in another world; they do such a great job making you feel like you’re away at a retreat. The daily breakfast was absolutely impecable and we enjoyed it every day of our stay; also offering a snack happy hour in the later afternoon. The proximity to the beach and food establishments was a huge plus, we never had to leave for much. I could honestly go on and on. Needless to say, we highly enjoyed celebrating our anniversary here. We will definitely be back!
Let’s be honest, you simply won’t find a better bed and breakfast anywhere else in Florida. The place is a hidden gem in Melbourne. To start, the staff are very accommodating and so friendly. They make you feel like you’re family. Breakfast is served from 8-10:30 and everything, including the evening hor d’overs and cookies is homemade and tasted excellent. My only complaint if you can call it one, is they don’t sell a cookbook with all of their recipes; if they did they’d sell out. Our room was spacious and well maintained and housekeeping did an amazing job. The overall property is beautiful with plenty of flowers, water features and other amenities. I’d highly recommend this place for anyone looking to get away for a weekend or just reset. My wife and I will definitely be back
We had a great stay. Room was clean and service was excellent. Breakfast was also very good. Very accommodating with any request. I highly recommend staying there
Positives first. Amazing staff very welcoming and helpful! Perfect beach location! I chose it because I knew it had history, character and charm. And I always like to seek out small businesses to patronize. The complimentary breakfast choices are great! We never went to the social hour for drinks because we preferred to stay at the beach but that adds a nice touch! I really wanted to give this quaint B and B a five star rating but unfortunately I cannot because I had to sleep on the sofa in my room for two nights. The bedroom sheets were not fragrance free and they gave me a terrible migraine. I don’t know why they use regular detergent. You can smell it on the towels and sheets. And I could not sleep in the bed because it was unbearable. Most hotels know better than to do this as you have so many people who have sensitive skin or have allergic reactions to such fragrances and chemicals. I would recommend in the future switching over to a less irritating detergent for future guests. Now kudos to the staff for attempting to fix the situation as they offered to wash the sheets in a different detergent for me but unfortunately the odors were still present. My other option was to go to the store and purchase my own sheets. I guess next time I will be better prepared in case this ever happens again.
A really warm welcome from the staff. We received a personal service of being shown around the property and taken to our room. Our room was spotlessly clean and was well equipped and had everything you could want; L’Occitane toiletries; plenty supplies of tea and coffee and fresh cookies. All supplies were refreshed daily. The breakfast was freshly cooked and extremely tasty. The freshly baked banana muffins were to die for. We enjoyed eating our breakfast in the courtyard watching the squirrels. The facilities were also amazing; extremely clean and comfortable. Two large jacuzzi type pools in beautiful surroundings. A snack bar which was open 24/7. The Hotel also provided beach equipment and allowed you to take their towels; which smelt amazing. I will also add the towels in the room were the fluffiest and whitest I have ever seen in a hotel. The hotel also provided “wine hour” with complimentary beverages and snacks. The hotel is centrally located and walking distance of shops and restaurants. Our room was a beach/ocean view. Everybody in the area was extremely welcoming and friendly. I absolutely would recommend this hotel: it was amazing; particularly given the price. I don’t understand why this is not a 5 star. The only negative was leaving!
