Yorumcular ne diyor

Visitors frequently praise Lamothe House Hotel for its beautiful historic charm, excellent location near Frenchmen Street and the French Quarter, and friendly, helpful staff. However, some guests note that the property shows its age with some maintenance issues and a lack of certain amenities found in more modern hotels.

Simply the best!!! The best location. I always stay there when I'm in New Orleans.

Had paid for room in advance and despite canceling 48 hours out, they refused to refund. Understood but they also refused to help me cancel the reservation and insisted I must go through their online system to formally cancel. Why this mattered with no refund was beyond me. Took contacting them several times to resolve. I've never chatted with a hotel so much in my life, especially over a simple no refund cancelation.

Beautiful courtyard and plant life (4 Green Stars) After one night in the Hilton Garden Inn, in the warehouse district (close to the Garden District) I spent two nights at Lamothe House. They were completely different experiences and both were fine but Lamothe House was way more memorable and beautiful. The Hilton is more controlled and sterile, and it’s comfortable but lacking in character, while Lamothe is more organic. Even though I stayed in a regular room at Lamothe (no period furniture), every little walk through the hotel – the courtyard, the pool, the popcorn machine in the hallway, all felt special. Sure, you may encounter a creepy-crawly in your room (or in my case, the shower) but that’s because it’s not a hermetically-sealed tomb – it’s a historical building in tune with beautiful plant life. A lot of people discuss the location, online, but it felt perfect for me as a base for exploring the French Quarter, Marigny, and Tremé. The area around Lamothe also felt safer to me than the Hilton (and more charming) although I didn’t have any trouble in either place. Esplanade Avenue is a lovely spacious street. Tip: chill down your room before bed using the a/c and then switch to the fan for the night. I’m also rating Lamothe House 4 out of 5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on the following: • It’s a historical building (from 1839) that’s beautifully preserved for a good purpose. • Ceiling fans help people to avoiding running the air conditioner all night. • Some items provided for guests were thoughtful and conscious. FSC-certified toilet paper! Some of the coffee was certified organic and fair trade. I really liked the free popcorn every evening! A sustainable snack provided in paper bags – what’s better than popcorn? • Room for improvement: provide ceramic mugs for coffee and condiments in paper (good brown sugar, wooden stir sticks). This stuff makes a difference – I grew to despise the crap condiments and plastic straws in plastic bags and the plastic-wrapped disposable cups that I encountered almost everywhere.

Location is perfect and accessible to everything in French Quarter, within walking distance. Roaches are bad and all over the city. They really should spray every month all rooms or more frequently during rainy season as we had to kill several. Internet service is lagging and TV service is local. There is no cable. Service is still good with staff responsiveness. Courtyard pool is nice. Price is pretty decent.

The building is old- in a good way! Everything in the area is; I cannot fathom being a guest in such a lovely old building and whining about the issues that come from staying in what is basically a landmark. That being said, the air conditioners are very loud, and the rooms would benefit from some form of dehumidifier (which might just mean buying a more modern model of air conditioner that includes a dehumidifier- it's worth the investment.) the service was lovely, the welcome was lovely, and other than the aforementioned loud air conditioner (like above 40 decibels loud), it was a lovely stay. The pool is great, though the pool towels could also use an update (the fabric is like baby blanket fabric instead of normal cotton- probably was microfiber before the first wash), the privacy was absolute, and the staff were nothing but friendly and accommodating. I think most of the negative reviews come from people who expect new construction from a centuries old town, which is an unreasonable expectation. Honestly, if you want to stop the whiners from whining, adding some kind of paper handout that talks about the 'history' of the building would probably help. Seriously, if you are looking for a nice, affordable place to stay, I'd warn you to ignore the bad reviews. That being said, we visited before the heat of summer- with that loud air conditioner, I could see the room maybe getting a little muggy in the summer. Parking was a little rough, but if you're willing to move your car before 8 am you can probably swing finding street side parking.
