Courtyard by Marriott Norwalk

Very clean, great indoor pool and gym, good service.

I went up to the front desk to check in on April 11, 2026 at 7pm and the clerk (Steven) asked me if I was there to check in. Yes I said and my last name is ****. He said, ‘Well that’s not going to be possible because we don’t have a reservation for you.’ I’m sure my face registered disbelief and then he said ‘Just kidding I’m joking’. He tried to backpedal his way out of it after I told him I didn’t think that was funny and that I’d had a long travel day getting there. I’m 100% sure the Marriott training program doesn’t approve of desk clerks joking about not having peoples’ reservations.

Below average Courtyard with an absent owner who doesn’t give the managers on staff the authority to do what is right. I stayed at this hotel more times than I can count because it was across the street from my office. Some locks/windows/TV’s work and some don’t. They try and blame Marriott corporate for their failing policies when it’s not true. Dogs left in room barking, charging a parking fee…etc. They will tell you it’s corporate poor policies being mandated when that’s not true. When something goes wrong John WILL NOT RESPOND. He will leave his staff accountable but give them not authority to handle the situation. Charges New Canaan prices when the hotel is in Norwalk.

We stayed for one night on our way through town. The room was beautiful and quiet and I loved that we could request extra feather pillows. My (6’2”) son slept on a pull out sofa and he was comfortable. The king bed was VERY firm (which was very uncomfortable for us so we woke up with backs hurting) but everything else was clean and unfortunately most chain hotels tend to opt for firmer mattresses so I’m used to it. We had breakfast at the Cafe Dolce a mile away and it was incredible.

One of my favorite marriotts around the area. Love to come back this place.

Room was clean. They charge you for Starbucks coffee in the lobby. The only free coffee is a keurig machine in the room with the gross powdered creamer. Internet was so slow it was unusable.

Excellent hotel: large, well-designed rooms with friendly staff. Good bar/restaurant.
