great experience on the hostel. friendly and good peoples in the reception. The room is a bit not well isolated from outside noise, but it was as expected with major disconfort.

I canceled my reservation within the stated free cancellation period, but Samesun Venice Beach still charged me a no-show fee afterward. The hotel’s own policy clearly allowed free cancellation before the deadline. After canceling, their system showed the reservation as canceled, so I booked another hotel. However, I was later charged anyway. When I contacted them, they claimed they could not verify the cancellation because their system did not send a cancellation confirmation email or provide a timestamp. That is clearly a problem with their own system, not the customer. Very disappointed with the handling of this situation and the refusal to issue a refund for an improper no-show charge.

It’s so nasty here ! It is stuffy and it’s so hard to sleep. You can’t cook. I feel like I am in hell.

Book a private room, it was no were close to the pictures on website, room was musty, no AC, fan doesn't run, no natural light and the worst part was the bed, it was creaking even if you moved an inch. Just look for another hotel.

If you’re just staying for a night or two and you just need a place to sleep and shower, then this place is fine. I got a private room, private bathroom, and it’s clean, but it’s a lot more expensive than it’s worth. When I checked in, I go into the room and it was hot and humid. I ask the front desk if there is AC and he says “yea it’ll kick in”. I hated that response so I check out the room again and realize the vent was just closed. I asked him to open it for me and he was like “you can’t reach it?” Dude. I wouldn’t have said something if I could. The next day, I leave the “do not disturb sign” on my door because I don’t like people coming into my room while my stuff is in there. When I came back, the sign was on the other side of the door and there were clean towels in my room. So that means someone was in my room while I specifically asked them not to come in. It’s a clean and decent space, I just don’t appreciate the staff not listening. Especially when I’m paying $200 a night.

Location is key, close to the beach, and the price is reasonable considering the conditions. Clean and quiet. Highly recommended... :)

Stayed in the private room with a private bath in April 2026. It had an amazing view of the beach it was really cool and the room was decent size with high ceilings I really liked it. I definitely want too stay there again. The bed was very comfortable too. The guy that was at the front desk when I checked out was fun and positive and made jokes I liked him. The guy when I checked in was nice too but just kept it short and simple. I also went out late at night and I felt safe in the area, lots of bars nearby too. I Was worried because I saw some bad reviews but I still booked and I am super happy that I did. It’s a really amazing place. Definitely going back there

Was denied a bed because I lived within 100 miles from the property. I live around 50 miles away, but apparently that is too close. Had to sleep in my car that night since all the other hotels were booked.

Stayed here in a private room. Pros: - The fact that you can check out beach items for free is very cool - Location is right in the heart of the craziness that is Venice Beach - Bathrooms were clean Cons: - Only one out of 5 of the outlets in our room worked. Mini fridge didn't work because of that. - Walls are paper thin - People were yelling during our stay at 6am for like 15 minutes straight and staff didn't tell them to zip it. - The rooms were super hot, and the ceiling fan was so far away and so slow that it basically did nothing. - Bed was like sleeping on plywood and pillows were super thin and uncomfortable - The kitchen closes at 10pm and you can't get to your food until the following day. No cooking until breakfast is over at 10am. This was not disclosed at check in so we went to bed hungry one night. I know it's a hostel but some of these things are unacceptable.

Had to pay in full when I had to cancel😪 I take partial responsibility because its in their terms but a hostel that doesn't understand that travellers plans can get screwed is really frustrating, as hostel goers typically can't afford much in the first place! A lost deposit is one thing but full charge is greedy
