Sweetfield Manor Boutique Hotel

This hotel is very beautiful. The trees, the flowers, the peacocks. It gives a very homey vibe. We had the butterfly room which had a smart tv (increased our rating), nice soft bed and a big shower with a big mirror in the bathroom. There were also tea and coffee on the side with one bottle of water per guest in the fridge. The staff assisted us with heating up our leftovers on our last night which was very much appreciated. The grounds are so pretty. It would’ve been nice if we stayed longer to use the facilities. There was only one bottle of water provided per guest (2 of us) on the first day of our stay. After that there was a charge for water - which seemed taxing considering how hot it was and the fact that water is a basic need and this hotel is advertised as 5 stars. No robes in our room even though they were advertised as part of our booking. Our sheets were not changed apart from on our second morning - the bed was just remade after that. The walls aren’t exactly thin but you can hear everything, every gust of wind, footsteps , rustling etc Upon check-out, we were disappointed with how much money was taken from our security deposit. Out of USD 250, they initially tried to keep USD 75 for some stains on the sheets and the pillow cases. It wasn’t until we argued that the sheets can be washed that they then confirmed that housekeeping said the sheets washed out … then why did you still try to charge us if the sheets washed out? They only reduced the charge to USD 50 which was hefty for some bonnet stains on two pillowcases. The pillows themselves were not affected. This was a very disappointing money-grab to end our lovely stay. When speaking to the manager, she all said that the charge quoted to us (USD 75) was in BBD and after she reduced the charge, she said 50USD so I was confused as 50USD is more and not less than BBD75 and then she changed it to “the price the receptionist gave you was USD”. We just felt they were never going to give us our full deposit back and would’ve found anything to hold onto. We waited 45 minutes at reception for our luggage to be brought up from our room, but it only took 5-10 minutes to check the room and determine that we would be charged for stains. Waiting an additional 35 minutes after this for our luggage to be brought to reception adding a little insult to injury. A bit of a sour end to what otherwise was an enjoyable stay.

Stayed for just one night before a cruise. Gorgeous boutique hotel. Really comfortable beds and pillows. We had the Island room and it was massive! Breakfast was Al a carte in the morning and was delicious. Service from reception to the bar and restaurant couldn’t be faulted. And there are beautiful peacocks everywhere.

Sweetfield Manor is a beautiful place to stay. Rooms are large & well appointed, the pool is spectacular & the peacocks actually own the property.

No staff around it is 6pm on Tuesday 13th Jan, no food available on mondays and tuesdays which we were not made awear of at the time of booking. No milk in the room so can't even make a complementory tea.. we messaged via whatsapp as this is the only way to communicate, no one responded

It’s a beautiful property, but there were enough signs of poor management for us to stay away going forward. We checked in Friday and had pre-requested a bottle of champagne and a fruit tray. On Sunday, I realized my wife is allergic to champagne, so we messaged the hotel to remove the charge. The bottle had never been touched and stayed sealed in the fridge the entire time. Their response? They refused to remove the charge because “the restaurant won’t accept the bottle back after more than 24 hours.” They told me I should have walked it down to the lobby on arrival if I didn’t want it, even though we didn’t see it until Sunday. It felt unnecessarily rigid. The housekeeper actually carried the bottle to the restaurant after our room check, proving they can restock it. When I asked why they couldn’t simply do that in the first place, no one would answer. The whole thing came across as sneaky and extremely short-sighted. We ended up paying, but it left a bad taste and showed a real lack of common sense. Check out was another headache. It took 30 minutes: partly because of the champagne issue, but also because we had to wait for housekeeping to do a room check before they would release our deposit. After ten minutes, I asked if the front desk agent could go confirm it, but she said she wasn’t allowed. More needless operational hurdles getting in the way of a good guest experience. They also charge a “delivery fee” for room service to walk food about twenty steps from the restaurant to the room. We paid it because it was pouring rain, but in such a small property it feels like another example of nickel-and-diming. Across all of this, we asked twice to speak to a manager. Once during the champagne conversation over WhatsApp, when I was told a manager was “aware” but would not email me. The second was at check out, when there was no manager on property. You’d think someone would want to step in if a guest was clearly having issues, but apparently not. We had considered hosting a big anniversary dinner here next year. That’s no longer happening. I wouldn’t return at all.

Beautiful place to rest and relax. The hotel gives you a feeling that you are stepping back to the colonial period. Staffing members are very friendly and courteous. Excellent food offers in the restaurant 😋. Prices are half as in the US. This is a great hotel to recover from a long and tired flight.

This is a little gem, located close to everything but tucked serenely away so it's calm and quiet. Full of character and charm with lovely rooms, each one unique, and the most lush little pool and jacuzzi surrounded by plants and trees. Oh, and they have peacocks. Couldn't ask for better.
