Noiz is the dance club of the Athens gay scene — the venue you head to when Sodade2's rooftop has set the social tone for the evening and you want to move from conversation to dancing. Located in Gazi within easy walking distance of the other main venues, Noiz programmes a music policy that runs from commercial pop and Greek mainstream to harder house depending on the night, and draws a crowd that is predominantly gay male but broadly welcoming. The club design is straightforward — a dancefloor, a bar, good sound, appropriate lighting — without the elaborateness of some European gay clubs, but this simplicity serves the purpose: the crowd is there to dance, and the room facilitates that without distraction. Noiz is the kind of club that builds its reputation on its regulars — the Athenian gay community that keeps coming back — rather than on themed nights and special events, and this loyalty gives the venue a warmth that more spectacle-oriented clubs sometimes lack. Peak nights are Friday and Saturday; the music gets louder and the crowd denser after 1am in true Athenian fashion.

I've never been there and it had good music. And almost always half-empty. The last three times in a year that I went, I left within the hour. Too bad because Greece as a whole doesn't have many shops that cater to this audience.
