About This Event

The Doo Dah Parade, a Columbus institution since the 1980s, is a send-up of everything. It's a deliberately silly parade, a parody of civic life, Ohio politics, and American culture. Floats and costumes skewer local news, national figures, and whatever else feels ripe for a laugh.

Queer people have been part of Doo Dah since it began. It makes sense: a parade that leans into the ridiculous and the transgressive would naturally attract queer creativity. This isn't about identity politics. It's about humor, irreverence, and a genuinely good time.

You'll find it in Short North, usually late summer.

Practical Tips

Line up on Park Street by noon if you want to march — organisers welcome walk-ups without paperwork.

Stick around for the afterglow at Goodale Park; it runs 11am to 7pm with food trucks and live music.

Expect pointed political satire and DIY floats — this is Columbus at its most irreverent, not a family-brand parade.
